I was lucky enough to find a Schick Type B2 for a good price (at least I think so). The razor is in good condition. The case is in decent shape the original blade canister is there with 15 original unused blades. Practically everything is included the spring and cartridge are also there. The B2 is heavy (which I like). I installed one new thin modern blade into the magazine and it got jammed. It took me about 40 minutes to remove the jammed blade, I was lucky that the razor didn't break. I don't strop nor hone any razor blade so I tried one of the original thicker blades which are practically mint. I suspected that the original blades were a bit dull. After being around so long and probably being handled they blades have lost most of their sharpness. During the shave the blade barely cut any hair it was mostly tugging and pulling. The few times that the blade did cut I could feel that the B2 was a bit aggressive. After using a variety of aggressive razors I found the B2 to be average in aggressiveness. The shave seemed good until I couldn't keep using a dull blade that had just a tinge of sharpness to it. It's unfortunate, my Schick B2 will just end up sitting without use since the newer blades jam into the magazine and I don't want to try that again. All of the original blades aren't sharp enough to shave with. The Schick B2 is a beautiful razor that will sit on the sideline due to the blade issue.

I also got a hold of a Schick Type N1. I don't know why this razor isn't really talked much about. The razor is very well built, long, sleek, it has a good grip and it shave fantastically! I can't stress enough how the N1 is a fantastic performer! My Gem Junior Bar lather catcher shaves mild and smooth I hate to say this but the N1 rivals it. The N1 shaves like running a feather across your skin, you can shave a dozen times a day with the N1 and feel no irritation ... no bullSchik! Well, I am exaggerating a bit here. If you want a ludicrously mild razor that shaves thoroughly this fits the bill. I'm stunned that this razor isn't mentioned enough.

Hey man, you know alot of the cats around here; that have those Schick Repeaters; just load a new blade directly into the head without using the magazine...Even if the magazine is working great...They don't want to log 'use time' on the original mag spring...Hopefully some of them will be along soon and tell you the safest way to do it... I'm thinking maybe needle-nose pliers??

Very nice finds! And yeah, like Lloyd said, just load a blade into it by hand and have at it. After I slide the blade in I use a Q-tip to push the blade as far back as it will go to make sure it's seated properly.

Lloyd, Tom, thanks! Gentlemen, my B2 works with the old thick blades very well and there is an old blade in the razor's head. Before I attempt to install a new thin blade by hand the new thin blade should push out the old thick blade easily?

Probably. I don't know how much thicker the old blades are, but in my B1's I can push the old blade out with just finger pressure.

Alright! Tom, I was able to push out the old blade with a new thin blade it was pretty easy. Once it was loaded pushing the blade back was also very easy. My camera is an ancient 2 megapixels relic so I can't take a picture of a Schick blade up close. There is a very tiny surface that isn't sharp on both the right and left side of the blade. I simply pushed the blade back by pushing (with my fingernail) that non sharp surface alternating between the left and right side of the blade. I wish I would have done this earlier at least I got a chance to use the B2 and see just how it performs!

Yep, that's pretty much how I do it as well. The blades stay in place really well just from friction.

wchnu, I wish I had an A type. From what I am seeing these older models seem to be getting a bit expensive. I am always late to the game.

Cbus, I hope I can find an Schick A that won't cost an arm and a leg that is! I paid $23 for the cased Schick B2 not knowing much about them I didn't know if I had overpaid. Looking at the listings for these older Schick models they seem to be going for higher prices. Down the future I'd like to get a Schick adjustable or a PAL adjustable.

Nice razor! With my C model I had to slightly squeeze the head with a pair of pliers so the thinner modern blades stayed firmly in place. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the A model that I have though Enjoy!

I can't stress enough how the N1 is definitely worth a try. Kevin, it seems that what you had to do to your model C is not uncommon. I was concerned that my B2 would hold the thin blade loosely but it's just about snug enough to hold it. There is a video on YouTube showing how someone loads modern blades into the magazine without problem. Yet, I have read people who had dealt with the modern blade jamming issue. I'm glad that I am able to use it after all. I wish the old blades weren't carbon steel the one I proceeded to test drive became spotty.
