Greetings
There are some beautiful old SE's there but the Heljestrand (at least for me) stands out above all the others, just superb specimens.
The last razor the Ever ready (in your previous post following the ER stropper) is I think a variation on the 'Yankee' model I believe Birdlives and Hosier trooper did some research on them not so long ago. I am also moderately optimistic that Major Tom on TSR may own one so he would be worth asking.
Regards Dick.

Beautiful! I feel like a kid in a sweet shop!
I have my eyes peeled for a seven day Wilkinson Sword - I have the same wooden boxed model as you and an E21 in a metal box.
The Heljestrand is something else ...

Look for "rakhyvel" on tradera.com, but make sure you have friends in Sweden, as they only ship locally unless advertised otherwise. I picked up half a dozen for friends in about two months. Maximum price: €40, and that was for my own. The prices they fetch on international eBay are clearly dictated by greed and ignorance. Edit: And here is a good example of the latter: eBay.fr. It's complete, but the blades may all be gone, and that strop is probably beyond repair.

Well, we SAAB pilots have friends all over the world ... Sweden, included. Thank you for the lead. I'll follow up with some locals.

I don't know how I missed this thread. Very nice razors Broadsword. The early Wilkinsons are not that easy to come across and yours makes a great thread starter! The travel Valet kit - yowser!. Very nice. I have always wanted to pick up a L'essor - have you been able to run through a shave with it?
Now that Heljestrand set. Very nice shape. Terrific set.
A really nice pile there Broadsword. Thnx for posting.

Thanks RocketMan...
I haven't shaved with the L'Essor as of yet, but I will do soon. I'm trying to sort out a workable, sensible schedule to give most of useable razors a work out. The Valet set is lovely... I forget how nice it is until I get it of storage and give it the once over. I am going to use that razor in a week or so too.
Glad you enjoyed the pics.

Can I ask about the Wilko Pall Mall? I'm interested in collecting one of these, but I would like it to be usable. I'm not into honing, stropping and maintaining old blades, so ... does it work with modern blades? Could modern blades be adapted? Thoughts ... sleddog - I pilot a MY2000 SAAB 9-5 Aero, yes. ' ? O? ??' ('Red October'), he's called. He's red, bought in October and replaced my all time most favourite car which I called 'Orca' hence the nautical reference. That car was most definitely a "she".

Hi Paul, Well mine is in a pretty bad state and I haven't spent any time looking into if a modern blade might be an option. However I will take a look either today or over the weekend and let you know my thoughts. Cheers, Jon

Hi... well I tried it with a Gem PTFE SE blade and it held fine... I may well give this a go sometime soon. My only word of caution would be that, given these are not far off a hundred years old, some of the internal mechanisms may be a little, how shall I put it, degraded, which would impact the stability of the blade. But these are sturdy things. Anyway I picture shows more than I can say so... The small clip at the top of the head (bottom in the picture above) secures the blade and is controlled by a small push button underneath the head which gives it a degree of tension. The blade was a little narrower than an original I think but when I had positioned it centrally it was solid (I checked with a few vigorous wrist flicks). So, yes, in short I believe a Pall Mall will take a modern SE blade. Let me know if you take this any further Jon

Thank you so much! This is so appreciated. Okay, folks, hands off eBay for a while ... I'm on the hunt for a Pall Mall Cool! Another great looking old razor still useful and accessible to modern shavers. You're a champ, pal!
