I think I touched on this before but could not find it. Wal mart here is now carrying the VDH Luxury set for $25ish. I have no need for another brush or mug so I picked up just a puck of the soap. It is around $4 and is packaged the same as the Deluxe soap. I only have one shave with it. So far I am not convinced it is worth twice the price.
It does have a better scent. But I did not notice a difference in the lather or how my face felt on the first shave. Anyone else tried this one?

I grabbed several boxes of the unscented recently just for the heck of it when Walgreens had it on clearance for half price. It's a pretty decent performer, but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

I bought the VDH Shave Set at Target a long while back. I wanted the apothecary mug which I call the cheap Muhle-Pinesel knock off. The set came with a puck of VDH scented Luxury Shave Soap. It seems to get a lot of praise but I find that the cheaper VHD Deluxe Shave soap lathers better for me.
Target used to carry the VDH Luxury line of soap but not anymore. I also tried the unscented VDH Luxury soap which, of course, wasn't any different then the scented version. I'm not a big fan of the luxury line and also feel that it's not worth the extra coin. The VDH Deluxe version is cheaper and for me works better.

Thanks! I actually like the VDH deluxe, so I think I won't even try the luxury type.

I feel just the opposite of you guys. I get better lather from the luxury and think it's a step up from the Deluxe. Not that the Deluxe is bad, but the Luxury seems better. I also appreciate the fact that it comes in Unscented because I've had to stop using most scented products due to my wife's migraines.

So this one is growing in me a bit. I have found that it loves a horse hair brush. Still not sure I will pay the extra cost over the deluxe though. We will just have to see.

My Walmart has the VDH soap and brush but no SE blades.....whats that all about? Made me angry enough to pass on buying anything....Fred Meyer's has The GEM Blue blades....soooo....thats where I'll be shopping...I can buy groceries, pharmacy, GEM blades, a couple boxes of 38's and a bottle of Hoppes no.9 (my fave cologne ) all at the same store.... Gets my vote...
