Picked this interesting box of soap up over the weekend for $3. It contains eight pucks of soap that is identical to the VDH Deluxe sold at various grocery, drug and big box stores but it doesn't have the VDH logo on each puck like the ones that come in the familiar green box, and the box they are in doesn't have VDH printed anywhere on it, just the label on the front and the $15 someone wrote on it. VDH doesn't call their Deluxe "Shaving Mug Soap" either, I'm kind of curious who these were made for and where they were meant to be sold at originally. I kind of like using the simple VDH Deluxe soap, actually prefer it over their Luxury line and for less that $.38 a puck I really can't go wrong!

Nice buy!
I actually like the VDH Deluxe also. Never tried the high falutin' VDH.

Interesting find. Colonel Conk soaps also come in that packaging as well as the VDH deluxe.
Curious. Heck of a deal though!

A sweet box of vintage shaving goodness for an excellent price. I would have thought the pucks were the old Surrey soap (before VDH) but they would be stamped with the Surrey name. I wouldn't be surprised if long ago VDH might have manufactured the soap for a store/pharmacy.
