Well I've got to admit I enjoyed the opportunity to use the Streamline but not the shave. There's so many razors that I really enjoy, and so many that I've yet to try and by the third shave with it the Streamline was just wasting my time so it's packed and getting ready to return to Halifax. Now I just need someone to lend me a Schick F

I've got a lot of cars in my garage ... I'll be happy to have the Rolls Royce back for the occasional outing.

I would keep mine even if I were never going to actually shave with it again, just to admire the craftsmanship, and because it is just so darn cool.
Not that that's going to happen, because I also find it to be an excellent shaver.
Of course, now that I think about it, most of the SE's in my collection are excellent shavers.

Is it simply that they're so desirable and collectible. Certainly they look and feel beautiful. The Schick F is scarce and so I understand the high prices there but Streamlines seem relatively common, more so than some of the lather catchers. I fantasise about finding one in a charity shop for £5...

They're collectable ... like the Gillette Fatboy, neither of which are "worth" the prices they're going for now, in my opinion.
I wonder if we could collectively pull a ruse, picking some unpopular razor, generating a lot of chatter about it, setting up auctions with really high starting prices and see where it goes ... not a single edge, of course, that would be suicidal ... perhaps something like the Gillette Techmatic?

I suspect this has already happened to some extent with the Streamline Paul, and I certainly see it with some DEs. The online wetshaving community is relatively tiny, and it's very easy to "talk up" certain razors. Prices seem to be as much based on confidence as any other market forces... ...and yes if I could sell my "as used by astronauts" Techmatic for £135 I'd be chuffed

They are rarer than, say, the Micromatics, but certainly not super rare. I think that they are more common on you guys' side of the pond, which is hardly surprising, considering their origin. A quick eBay (US) search turns up 3 of them, but they are all overpriced BIN's and none are in pristine condition. Even the most expensive one ($200 US) has a piece broken on the case and some plating wear. The 48 page thread on B&B might have something to do with the high prices. There are two variants, with the older one being much more rare. At least it seems to be - I've been looking for some time, and cannot find one at a semi-reasonable price. There are also different packages, and even a Gem version that is super-rare. --Bob

In Praise of The Streamline [ Ambassador ].
In the Last week my to go razors have been. 1. ER Ambassador/Streamline. 2 Kampfe Star- Shimmed blade. I have had good close shaves with the Star, and found it to be a surprisingly smooth shaver and not as aggressive as i was led to believe [ feel same way about the OCMM ].
However , I have found that for me , the weight of the ER works well, with a really light touch it is possible to get a nigh on BBS on most occasions. It is of all the SE razors that I use [ Gem/ER & older Star ], the one which provides me with a consistently good Shave. Some of the other razors used are enjoyable, as I like the challenge of getting a good shave out of them.

Aye, the Streamlines are the Pick of the Crop that's for sure....I have heard the saying..."Streamline Snobbery"......I don't know how anybody can have a shave with a Streamline and say its a disappointing experience and come to the conclusion that they are "Bummed "out of all proportion by the people that own them....
After I had my maiden shave with my Streamline it took me a moment to look another SE in the eye, as I was so enthralled by its performance ...I find that the Streamline is deceptively aggressive, smooth and a very forgiving razor all in one package....
No Nose In The Air Here.....

Got myself one some months ago and didn't like it either, it's in the possession of a friend now who loves it. Besides the very mild ones this is the only SE I didn't care for.
