In a recent thread on another forum, Paul (pjgh) happened to mention "the late model Treet: the Clog Pruf comb on a 1912 frame." Naturally I had to have one. I got lucky on the 'bay and found one almost immediately. It arrived yesterday. At a glance it could easily be mistaken for a fat handled Gem Junior. Waits has a brief paragraph on the Treet and comments, "very similar to c. 1948 Gem Junior." Waits adds, "On October 1, 1948 the Treet Safety Razor Corp. merged with the American Safety Razor Corp." Here is the Treet, together with a Gem Junior: Here is a closer look at the combs: In addition to the obvious difference in the combs, the blade is presented at a slightly different angle. The Treet is on the left: Finally, here are the Treet and Gem compared to a Clog-Pruf: It appears that the comb (or safety bar, to be more precise) on the Treet is very similar, but not identical to the Clog-Pruf. --Bob

The clog pruf is my favorite micromatic. I also have Gem and Treet fat-handled beauties side by side on my regular rotation rack. I instinctively reach for the Treet over the Gem. My shaves are usually better when a ribbed or smooth safety bar is in the vanguard.
Also, the Treet comes in a wide range of handle colors.
There is also a Star version the shares the Gem design, although I have yet to get my hands on one that wasn't decrepit beyond usability.

'Little Clog Pruf' - I like that What colour handles do we collectively have? I have a black with red base and an olive green. I think (can folks confirm) that the difference between the Treet and GEM Parade handle is that the GEM has a hole in the end while the Treet is flat based.

I think (can folks confirm) that the difference between the Treet and GEM Parade handle is that the GEM has a hole in the end while the Treet is flat based. I have red, black with red base, and olive handles. And mine seem to all be the same angle as the Gem Parade. Other than the clog pruf bar, the only difference on mine are the Treet's flat bottom, and the Gem handle looks to be just a scooch smaller. Edit: looking over my Gems and Treets this morning, I realized that in addition to the above differences, the ribbing on the Treet handles goes the length of the handle. On the Gem handles, the texture stops about 1/2" or so short of the base. So there is a smooth ring at the base of the handle.

The Treet "1912" model is my go to razor when I am in a hurry, when I am tired and I don't want to have to think about angle/pressure, and when I want a great shave. The Treet give me an effortless BBS shave every single time I use it.

Does the Treet shave like a CP?

IMO the Treet is not quite as aggressive as the CP, but I can get a closer shave with the Treet using the same technique? I have never drawn blood with the Treet and I have made so fairly quick shaves with it.

Thanks, fergie.
I haven't really done any careful comparisons, but my general impression is that the Treet is noticeably milder than the Clog-Pruf, which I find to be fairly aggressive.
