Thanks for the wonderful review, Joe. It surpasses even your high standards. It has to be one of the most complete reviews I have ever read.

Hello Steve! If you run across the Barnum (or it's variants) I hope that this review helps you.

I thought I'd post a picture of the Barnum's original razor blade. If you look at the bottom right corner, you will noticed that the razor blade is chipped. At first it appeared that the blade was simply chipped. I noticed that the chipped corner was the edge seated next to the top plate's pin (hinge). The edge is in fact not chipped! The edge's missing piece was actually rounded off. This rounded edge fits perfectly into the top plate's pin. If the edge was not rounded off the blade would simply not fit. Due to the fact that a modern SE blade is shorter then the Barnum blade, a modern blade will not encounter this issue.

Awesome stuff Drumzalot!! As others have commented you have done a bang up job on this project. It is great that you went the full mile and got it shaving. It is tons of fun getting these non standard blade razors to work. This was a tricky one!
I have seen the boston and Barnum before and was aware of the Yankee, but not the others. Good job digging up this info. Thank you!
And..your NOS razor and box look wonderful. I have yet to see one in such fine condition. Nice.

Wayne, thanks! It is a fun challenge to put these odd proprietary blade razors to work RM. Luckily the Barnum was pretty cheap, I've seen some go for a high price. This razor shouldn't cost much since the shave is average (at best). I will be reviewing another proprietary blade razor in time. My latest score was easier to mod.

I just made an improved version of my jig. It's cheap easy to make with easy to find hardware. With the appropriate steel cutting blades the mini hacksaw does a decent job.
