Disclosure: I am reviewing this as a mere reviewer of this product. I purchased it with my own money and I have no affiliations with the manufacturer of this shaving soap or one if its vendors.
Ease of lathering: 7/10 This soap is triple milled and very hard, so it is necessary to load a bit longer than a softer soap. It is not as easy to lather as Pre de Provence, another triple milled soap, but it is certainly not what I consider to be hard to lather.
Lather quality: 7/10 It has decent stability but it is unremarkable. Fairly average. It can't touch Martin de Candre, Pre de Provence, or Caties Bubbles in this area.
Cushion: 6/10-- It has less cushion than I would like. Still quite acceptable for all but the most aggressive of razors. It has less cushion that all the soaps I mentioned above.
Slickness: 8/10-- Good slickness with a medium density lather and ok with a high density lather. I would not go watery with this particular soap because it loses all its cushion.
Beard softening: 7/10 Fairly good in this area. Of course like all soaps, beard softening effects occur greatest at a high density lather.
General skincare: 8/10 pretty good skincare. It does not have shea butter, like PdP, but still manages to feel the skin feeling nice and moisturized after the shave. It is a clean residue-free feeling but one that does not feel drying.
Scent: 3/10 Not good. The official website lists it as a fougere (fern) scent. This is the primary reason for my acquisition of this soap. I hoped to get Pre de Provence with a fougere scent. If you are expecting something similar to the MdC Fougere scent you will be displeased. The smell does resemble something green but it is very synthetic. It smells EXACTLY like the floor cleaner my mom always used to use (Fabuloso or Pinesol). The scent mellows out after the first time you open it but it is still there. I would not buy it for this reason alone.
Price:10/10 This soap is quite hard to get in the USA. I bought it from a German vendor on the German eBay site. It was $12.something including shipping. The soap is triple milled so it will last about a year.
Packaging: 8/10 It comes in a tin like PdP. It is very lightweight but still feels of decent quality. I dislike plastic containers because they feel cheap and aluminum is more recyclable. The cake fits loosely inside at first so you can take it out and move it to a different container if you wish.
Would I buy again:Absolutely not. The scent is awful. If the scent was any good I might be willing to put up with its average performance. Why do I keep mentioning PdP? Well, there is quite obviously a resemblance to PdP but PdP is better in every way. I suggest you don't waste your money.
