I love this thing for its complicated simplicity. It's funny how a micro adjustment on the shave aggressiveness screw changes the shave so dramatically.

That is a beauty. I recently chanced upon one (thank you, Marcus!), and I like it a lot. I have a soft spot for contraptions in general, and the Darwin's is a particularly fetching specimen.

It's one of the best looking shaving objects. The balance is an improvement over the rolls razor and I think for the time, the dual strop concept with two different grit pastes was probably the way to go. The case actually has a longer track than the rolls which is nice. A lot of fun.

First shave with my Darwin. First shave with a Darwin. I honed the 2 blades up using a Naniwa progression 1,3,8,&12K I then finished on a Translucent Arkansas stone. As I am waithing for some new leather for the strop. I gave it 6 laps on my Feric Oxide strop. The shave was smooth but could have been much better if I did not use Williams. I need more slickness for wedges and straights, than Williams can provide. I opened it up quite a bit to get the most from the blade. If you treat this like a straight you will be rewarded with a fine shave. I plan on giving this more shave time in the near future. I LOVE WEDGES. Tom

Awesome looking set up there Tom. I am sorry to hear the Williams did not give you what you needed with this razor. I use it often with straights and shavettes and it generally does good. How does the Darwin compare to a Rolls shave. I assume since it is adjustable that it might be closer to a straight shave LOL.

I take the bar guard off the Rolls when I use it. The trick is to get the blades fully sharpened outside the system's. Then use the devices to maintain the blades. Tom

I think I will make it a point to get my Rolls shaving.
