I feel like boycotting all Combe Incorporated products, but they also make Aqua Velva.......But if they take their Mug soap of the market, who thinks that AV has much chance to continue? Maybe every last one of us has to e-mail them with our discontent on this decision. What do you think?

We had a similar thing with Palmolive. Personally, I didn't believe it ... even with a letter from the company. They use all manner of double-speak. It'll be manufactured elsewhere. Palmolive continues to be, no shortage visible in shops. Yeah, sad, but I'd take anything a company says with a giant pinch of salt.
Remember all that over Personna ditching the SE blade? Nah. Not going to happen any time soon.

At one time, long before me, it was good. They reformulated it into something that is presently junk. Good riddance. They committed suicide and either can't read the formula from years ago when it was good, or have no one in the company who can make a good soap. Bye Bye!
ARKO is here and the Turks can make a decent soap with a similar scent at low cost. Even on our side of the pond it's extremely inexpensive so IMO Williams is no loss. I'd like to feel something here, but can't they monitor what's being said about the product?

Well, I like Williams and can get a fine lather out the new stuff with no real problem. I'm sadden that such a long running product will be no more. Time to go stock pile what I feel is a worthy soap

Call me a cynic but I can't help thinking that promoting the idea that a product is about to be discontinued (and the resulting buzz on social media) sounds like shrewd marketing to me.
I like Williams, and would hate to see something with that kind of heritage disappear from the market, but there are better inexpensive soaps out there (hello, Arko).

If this is true, and I really hope it isn't, it's a shame to see the end of something as iconic as Williams mug shave soap. I really, really enjoy using the modern Combe version because it simply works very well for me.I know a lot of guys don't have a lot of success with it, but I think my really soft water contributes to how well it works for me.
I have a pretty good stash of about 15 boxes, and I was just in the local grocery store that sells it for $.76 a box a few days ago and noticed they had 5 or 6 boxes along with about a dozen of the $3.58 Burma Shave brushes on the shelf. I hadn't seen this report that it may be discontinued but now that I have I'll be heading back there to grab up all they have. I may even grab a few more of the Burma Shave brushes to go with the three I got there awhile back.
I don't think we'll see Aqua Velva go away anytime soon, they still have commercials on TV so it is apparently still making them some profit.

Williams is useable, but one shouldn't need to be a shaving contortionist in order to get it to work. If they hadn't made a really good soap in the past they'd be able to claim ignorance or incompetence, but they did. They made their modern Williams "so good" that folks decided they wanted no part of it once traditional shaving had a resurgence and gents found out what else was available. At least that's my take on it.
Do you gents want me to check where I've found Williams in the past? I don't want any, but as long as you want me to I can check. I can't guarantee price, and of course there will be shipping involved. What I don't want to do is buy 15 pucks of it and then be told "We don't want it.", because I certainly don't either.
Whatever the cost is, I'll pass it on at cost + shipping.
Let me know.

Well I wrote them, just as I think we all should....The response makes me think maybe they don't know yet or maybe they are just dodging the issue....Here's their response:
Dear Mr. Chisholm:
At this time we can not speak to Williams Mug Soap being discontinued.
Williams Mug Soap is currently still being manufactured in limited distribution.
Thank you for contacting us.
Sincerely, Tamara Tamara Consumer Resources Consultant
