This stuff has been around since 1840. It is the first soap that was made to be used in a puck. Over the years some of the ingredients have had to be changed but it is basically the same soap. No doubt this is my favorite soap. Love it or hate it it has been here a long time.
Do you love it too. Or can you not stand the stuff. Let's hear about it.

I'm a huge fan, and because if the Kriger grocery store chain clearance I have stockpiled enough to last a lifetime. I have about a dozen vintage pucks, including one rose scented stick and two menthol. In my rotation I am using one from each of the plants, Glastonbury, Cranford, Glen Rock and Pittsburg.
I do think the older ones work a bit better than the current Combe formulation but it works very well, and I like using a product that I can pick up while I'm getting milk, bread and eggs.

I have never used the scented ones. I do agree the older ones are a bit better. But the new ones are great.

The menthol is long gone, but the rose scent is very strong in the stick.

I could have bet two bucks on Fuzzy sliding in a Williams Mug Soap promo right quick!!! Thread number one baby! I gotta admit though that I have been using this more frequently again and have been enjoying it. It is simple, clean, and leaves a distinct feeling. I would be pleased as punch to try some old stuff though. I have one NOS early mug of soap - but I am too much of a pack rat to use the darn thing!! I will post pics on this thread when I get a chance to snap some pics.

Just a reminder that the grocery store chain Krogers is clearancing out Williams for anywhere from $.59-.71 a puck. I have built quite an inventory and plan on using it as my primary soap this year.
They have affilaited stores under different names around the coutry so you might check their website to see what's available in different states.

Do they mail order? I never heard of any of their stores, and the store locator isn't working or so it says. I use Williams, It's not my favorite soap, but I do use it from time to time. I actually like the scent too, I know lots of folks don't. To me it smells like ARKO, and I like that as well. In bulk I can actually get ARKO shipped less expensively than I can buy Williams from the supermarket. But for those discontinued prices, I can't buy ARKO for that!

All the stores around here have it at 99 cents, except for one. They have it at $1.07. Funny thing is, they are all the same chain!

That is about what I get it for.

Thanks. I can get plenty, but not at clearance prices. I think I pay $1.50 thereabouts. I have plenty in stock for the shavepocalypse, but if a store was near me I'd get more just for noobs and such. Heck, at those prices I'd use it in the shower.

I want to like Williams. It lathers fine and it is plenty slick. Unfortunately, after snagging three pucks on clearance at the Kroger-type store in the nearest town, I discovered the soap makes a burning sensation if I don't shave it off quickly. Oh well.

Don't like Williams for shaving. Try as I might could not get a really good lather with it. Will stick to my Tabac, MWF and a couple artisan soaps.
But the wife loves the stuff. Uses it to get tough stains out of some of the laundry (I'm a messy eater! ;D )
But I think every wet shaver should give it a try. If you can make it work like Fuzzy then you have a really inexpensive product to help you get great shaves.
