Never having experienced vintage Williams I don't know from squat (I'm not hinting and I wouldn't accept), but the modern Williams I find easy to use and it gives acceptable results. It just requires too much effort to obtain anymore, so I'm switching to ARKO. Eventually I'll run out of Williams. Maybe 2030 or so. I figure the babe wiping my butt for me might use up the last of my ARKO. Hey, I may not be aware of it, but I'll croak with a shave!
Where I was buying my Williams they swapped over to VDH deluxe to directly compete with a Super WalMart which is 500 yards away and before I get to them. Marketing geniuses. I told them so in a fairly blunt e-mail. When I stop into the SWM for the regiment size of pickled jalapenas and salsa I also pick up a mess of VDH.
I might try Krissys version of Williams. That could be very interesting.

When I get some extra money I am going to pick up a puck from Krissy. That should be soon I hope.

Funny how our abilty to get things differs so much. I couldn't get an arko stick without the internet to save my live, but I know of 5 or more spots within a half mile that have Williams pucks for a buck.

First off how did I MISS this?? That was a great offer Willy. So just a few photos to show what a good Williams lather is like, I used a small generic boar. I have had to reglue the knot in it a few times but it is a lather monster with Williams. That might not look like a lot of lather on the brush but I am face lather type so it works out well . Here is the end result. Nothing wrong with Williams that is a three day growth under there and it came off smooth and sweet. VIVA LA WILLIAMS

I most definitely count myself as a Williams fan. Williams and Colgate pucks were what my grandfather used. The scents always take me back to when I was very young and going over to see my grandparents. I get a good lather with Williams when I use my boar brush. I love the soapy scent it gives off. I am a sucker for a good utilitarian soap smell in any of my soaps/creams. I did not know that Williams once had a menthol puck. I bet that would be amazing!

I love a rose scent cream or soap also but for everyday use a plain ole clean soap scent is outstanding. Williams and a boar yells classic shaving setup to me.

I got into the rut of using an inexpensive VDH Boar brush from the drugstore down the road and Wiliams from our local grocery store. It's a hard rut to get out of because the boar makes my Williams explode into rich thick lather in only a few seconds.I usually keep my Williams in a 3 1/2" diameter Dirty Bird shave mug that provides good surface area. I usually grate up 3 pucks into this and I'm good to go for a long time...
