I kept an eye on that one too. It's identical to the one I bought a year age for 40 odd quid. Not bad, nearly a 45% increase in price. Not good if you want to buy one. Still, sticking to the car analogy, they are the Ferrari of flip top SEs. Translate that to DE world and you're looking at something in that condition that'll cost you three times as much.

I hear you, but my most expensive razor is a German made pot metal razor that sold for near $30 US. For all the rest of my razors I've paid significantly less than that. I think the next most expensive was $23 with a few dollars additional for shipping.
That's about my speed.

Same here. Never paid more than $20 for any razor and am generally very happy with decent user grade quality. However, for this razor, short of finding it in the wild (non-existent odds of that happening here in Western Australia) I felt I had no option but to join and out do the bidding masses.
Just to whet your apetite a bit more, it looks and feels a lot better in real life than it does in pictures. I venture to say that there's not a DE or SE razor ever produced (MMs come close) with the build quality of this one. You'd have to bury it in the garden for a few decades to see any plate loss.

Well, the price folks are paying is consistent at this point. Here is another that just finished up www.ebay.ca/itm/150784581458?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649Very nice case presentation with the CORUX blade cases. But again, the price is not cheap. That said though, you can spend more than that on a new Merkur that is no where near the quality of one of these. The Streamline, even if 60+years old, will still be looking great in another 60 years. The Merkur, well just don't use it, store it really carefully, and maybe in 5 years it could be looking ok!! So, price is relative really. This is a fine razor.

The only draw back with the "art deco" style cases is that they're pretty useless for taking it in a travel bag.

It isn't like I am living a secret life flying down to LA strip clubs or anything. Just a razor here, a razor there...... and here, maybe there.... edit: I figured I really should add, my wife is my best supporter. She is as bad as me now and has certainly been known to bring home razors here and there. She can spot an LC at 50 paces for sure!!

[ What the heck is that?? A Muhle 2011 R41 (my only modern razor) that I bought from Connaught Shaving. I'm pretty sure it was in the high $30s. It was a gift this past Christmas, I ordered it 'cause it was the best price around, shipping was what I would have paid CONUS, but I didn't pay it, so I don't remember precisely.

First one was £36, second one was that one that went for the most, £53, then there was one that came in the chrome case that got passed in, no bids at a starting price of £20 tinyurl.com/dywdrprNow that they have had no bites with UK postage only, maybe they would be more willing to post overseas in the future? One to look out for. I'm just looking for curiosities sake, not buying unless they are under $20

Just noticed the listing ended because the item is no longer available, not because of no bids. Someone probably twisted his arm over private messaging to sell. I didn't bother as he listed it UK postage only, but you know how some people are...

Loaded up my Streamline this AM with a Gem stainless blade and used Nancy Boy Signature cream. This is just a flat out magnificent razor that I highly recommend picking up if you ever get the chance.
