Not too bad for $3 at a yard sale, if I say so myself. The brush looks identical to every Old Spice brush I've seen but it lacks the OS insignia, but was still sealed in the plastic bag so it's never been used, and the soap is also unused. According to the seller they have been stored in a barn for years. The puck will go into storage until I use up the two I already have and then it'll get cleaned up and put into use.

Awesome. I can never find that kind of sale. I want a brush like that too.

Any scent left (the soap not the brush)?

Nice find! In Maine, yard sales are all about used underwear and the household garbage. OK, I jest about the garbage. OK, I've never really gone to one either. I wish I had the time to go to yard sales. I'm retired and I'm far too busy. Think about it... no days off; ever! No weekends off, no holidays, no vacations, all 100% go, go, go.

Any scent left (the soap not the brush)? It is very, very faint, but neither of my other two have much scent left either.

Had to shell out the big bucks for my latest Old Spice find, $7 for this mint condition mug and brush. Not as good a deal as the last one but this brush is blue and has the ship insignia, which I have really been looking for.

Nice brush! I never saw the inside of an OS mug, but I see it has flutes to help lather. Neat!

The purpose of the ribs was actually to hold the soap in place so that it didn't spin around when you were loading the brush. The first OS mugs that came out in 1938 were smooth with no ribs. They didn't start putting the ribs in until 1948, the first ones only had three and then they went to six and that's how they were made right up until they ended production. The only exception was the blue ones made in 1985, they had no ribs for some reason.

...the blue ones made in 1985.... HT hit it right on the knot with this description of the mug ribs. But, I had no idea there were blue mugs. Never seen one. (and by the way. I never would have paid a penny over 6.99! But seriously, great catch HT!)

HT,
Do you know what year they started putting 6 ribs in the mugs? Any info on the ship names? Thanks, Sir.

(and by the way. I never would have paid a penny over 6.99! But seriously, great catch HT!) The only reason I paid more than $6.99 was because it had been $8 but was marked down to $7. Had it not been marked down I would have walked away empty handed.
