I was able to score the first and second generation Auto steps. The model A1 and A2. These both have a push button to release the blades. As opposed to the leavers on all other models. A1 A2 with a square body at the head. I will post more when I get them in a few weeks.

Nice catch Tom! What blades will you use on those? I have a few of the old Auto strop Blades I will use I will also see how the Gems work. I think they will work great with the A’s. It is hit and miss with Gems on the B,VB1&VC1 models. I have one that takes the Gem fine. My others do not close all the way with Gems, as they are a bit shorter. I need to bend the lever to get more travel to lock the blade. Not a big thing. I find a nicely honed vintage blade to be smooth. The Gem is definitely sharper with a bit different feel. They are both winners in my book. Everybody should have at least one Valet. A VB1VC1 or earlier. That way you can use Gem blades.

Nice find, Tom. I haven't seen those before. Looking forward to hearing how they shave for you. I found them both in England. So they are British made. The silver plating appears to be in really nice shape on both of them.
