Thank you for the clarification. There are quite a few soaps (and creams) missing that would be on top of my list, but that's understandlable. Full disclosure, a friend of mine makes shaving soaps for a living. Their products are not sold in the US, just like PAA's products are not sold over here, so he is not a competitor. I gave him three of PAA's products for analysis. I cannot quote him directly under the current posting guidelines, but the tl;dr version was, "arguably the worst shaving soaps ever made, using cheap import base products, and even cheaper ready-bought bouquets (ie scents) - and all that at an insane price." I agree with him, by the way. And that is not mentioning PAA's scammy advertisting techniques. Excuse me but what does "tl;dr version" mean? I'm curious, I have no idea.:-) I'm not into the trash-talkin stuff, I could care less what some 2nd or 3rd party says and I'm totally clueless as to what "scammy advertising techniques" refers too and I probably don't care anyway. There's plenty of commercial and artisan products out there for everybody to choose from, people have individual preferences, that's the way things should be.

As for the scammy advertising, this thread sums it up. And you're quite right, there is plenty to choose from. Which is why I am taking my money elsewhere. And yes, this is a decision based on both functional (the products simply are heavily overpriced) and ethical considerations. As an aside, saying, "I could care less what some 2nd or 3rd party says" is a pretty meta reply in a review thread. Because a review is, by definition, something a second party says about a third party product.

I did read those threads and all I can say is I agree with the posters who simply don't care for all the drama, it seems to me some people have just got their panties in a bunch over nothing. Scandal, vague accusations, he said she said, blah blah blah. I simply don't believe everything I read or hear on the Internet, yes I'm cynical. :-) I need to be convinced by indisputable facts, objective opinions don't mean anything without facts, and that goes for product reviews too. Subjective opinions are fine but they are just based on the personal experience of the reviewer at that time, and we know how far subjective opinions can vary between individuals.

Define "indisputable", please. If someone who makes (shaving) soaps for a living (for more than a decade, and quite successfully, too) finds that a shaving soap is rubbish, who am I to question her findings? This is as close to an objective review as you will get, barring your access to laboratory equipment. Whether or not your subjective findings align with that is a different matter entirely. Which is why I am deeply sceptical of most online reviews, whether it be shaving soaps or a new car. But there are experts, and there are amateurs. My source is an expert. Yours?

With all due respect to your friend the expert soap maker, if he finds that a shaving soap is rubbish then have him provide me the facts as to how he came to that conclusion, indisputable facts of course. Just saying something is so, doesn't make it so. If you're as sceptical as I am, then you would want some clear factual evidence to support his opinion. I told you I was cynical.

This is actually pretty good for a PAA thread. We will keep an eye on things as I have seen them go sideways fast other places.

Well then I shall have a drink for all y'all then! Not calling anyone out, and as long as both sides are understanding of the conversation then as far as I can tell in the CalvinBall rule book itbis allowed. Play ball!

Sometimes it is better to be a live chicken than a dead duck.

I like PAA. Lathers very easily with a minimal amount of soap and the CK6 formula could be the best soap I've used.
