Went back with the spiced rum sample. It is very good. The badger brush Andrew gave me whipped up enough lather for 37 passes.

Friday's ShaveCold Water Wash Jeeves of Hudson Street Jayaruh #327 J.A. Henckels Rapide CVS CS SE CWR Stetson AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Jeeves of Hudson Street Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #327 boar brush. I did two passes with the Henckels razor with a CVS CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Stetson AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... Did you end up using the spacer on this shave? If yes, notice any difference or have a preference for one or the other? Yes, I used the spacer today. The shave may have been a tad milder, although that could be the age of the blade. This was my last shave with it. I will have to investigate further. No definitive answer now.

Jan 18th -- A truly BBS+ shave, but it came at a price (which was the "+"). First the gear and pic, then the explanation.... Gem Heavy Flat Top (aka G-Bar) | Gem PTFE (0) | Cella (red tub Croap) | RazoRock 24mm Plissoft | Krampert's Finest Bay Rum Long story short, it was the first use of a Gem PTFE that I believe was the culprit -- well, that and a user who continually forgets how harsh the first use of a Gem SS PTFE blade can be. I rarely see blood when I'm shaving with an SE, but today the Cella soap tub wasn't the only red item in my shave den. Not a big deal, the bleeders didn't even need a styptic or alum block, but it hurts my pride (not to mention my face) if I can't get a nice blood-free shave. I've heard some folks say that they strop or cork their blades. I live too far from Cackalacky to use Jayaruh's belly-strop , and I'm not sure I want to fool around with cork stropping, so I guess I'll figure out another way. I've heard recommendations to use a mild razor for the initial shave with the SS PTFE's so they "break 'em in" while minimizing the harshness. Or maybe I just need to be a bit more careful when I'm using a new blade....or switch completely to Treets . My face is feeling a bit tenderized, but it's most definitely soft! Sorry, that "long story short" should've read "long story extra-long"

Fantastic shave this morning. Looks like a long weekend in the snowplow, going to have to put together a stellar shave for Monday morning. Hopefully we can get the roads clear in time to have Monday off.
