Jim, it actually suprised me with it's performance. I also liked the scent. I'd use it over Cremo, truth be told. That's what I think of it as well. Not a fan of the ad campaign, but it is a solid product.

Gillette is a puzzle. Their AOS line of fragrances are for the most part not bad, but overpriced. They are definitely a bit on the greedy side. If they ever re-introduce their vintage razor line, they’ll make a fortune price gouging unsuspecting victims. I don't think it will ever happen, but if it did it would be fun to watch and would likely drive down some of the prices on a few lines of the Artisan razor makers. I think there are lots of unsuspecting victims currently participating in the Artisan soap and Razor markets these days for that matter. In my marketing course in college we learned that when Mobil 1 synthetic was launched Mobil tested pricing in different markets and found their highest price sold the best. Customers decided that if the synthetic was the same price as regular oil, it was probably not as good as "real" oil and Mobil was gouging them. On the other hand the higher priced offering was thought to be significantly better because how could they charge 4 or 5 times as much as regular oil if it wasn't better. And that is how it was priced going forward. We people and our habits are certainly interesting. I think in the shave community there are bubbles right now that we're born out of backlash at BIG SHAVE and BIG SOAP. In that vein we've gotten some great products to market, but certainly not all of them are worth the cost.

Take the same product label it premium and up the price. People will flock to it.

I have not that before. Knowing people though it makes sense. Take the same product label it premium and up the price. People will flock to it. I've been told that that is what saved the Shiner Brewery in San Antonio. They had a regular lager or something that was losing sales and it was close to going out of business. They found an old Bock recipe and decided to brew that and sell it at a higher price. The Bock sold well and got them off to prosperity. Nice artwork and a good back story sells a lot of high priced product to folks looking to leave the "mainstream" Ever see an Artisan website without "my story" "our story" or similar? I'd wager the answer is no, unless they had no idea about marketing. Throw in a few photos of wood, leather and steel and rustic things and you've got yourself the makings of website that will appeal to many. Go to your local supermarket and start reading the "our story" on the backs of some bottles of barbeque sauce. Leaves you with that, yeah, sure whatever feeling.

While the stuff out of the tube, is meant to be a lathering cream and used with a brush, I did notice they have introduced a gel and a foam in aerosal
