The Colgate is a good soap for sure. That Schick G4 is a great razor, and I don't see why you need hot water to shave with. It is good for cleaning up your tools, but cold water gets you into your shave quicker and saves water too. I don't soak my brush either. I just wet it, shake it off, and load it. I have cut back my loading time to about 8 seconds and I am still able to make loads of lather. I have enough left to shave an elephant.

As far as cold water.....blah. I do soak a boar. Maybe more to heat the bristles.
