Could any one with a caliper measure their 1912? Dan can do that as well? Measure what, exactly? The blade gap I think.

Interesting. I have never had a 1912 feel like that. Love these things. Must be using too steep of an angle, put the cap on or very close to the face and use a good blade, and shaves will be smooth and easy. The 1912 is one of those "everyman" razors, from noobs to old scrooges, blood loss only comes from pilot error. I agree here!!

I will take time back on wifi to watch the video. Your 1912 must be wonky somehow. I would guess the guard is bent.

I am at a complete lost then. Maybe you got a faulty one Dan? Looks to be in very good condition. I don't get very good shaves from the micromatics either though. Only the featherweight. But the 1912 is the worst. Ill stick to my wedge blades for a while.

Wedge shaves just rock!! Indeed. That's where my heart is. Most of my collection is wedge SE's. I can control the angle of the cutting edge and the degree of stropping. Its nice to dial it in and get a blade just right.

I wish I could find a Wedge SE but they are hard to find and expensive when I do.

@vintagelife I'll use mine for the Sunday shave. Probably cross post it on my channel and the TOST channel as well. This has been a good subject.
I will say this, when I first got mine, I got horrible shaves. Irritation and weepers. I set it aside and went back, now it give good shaves. Maybe my technique was off, who knows

I measured the blade gap on a GEM 1912 and a GEM Junior 1912 Blade gap on the GEM 1912 was .43mm, the Junior was .53mm. No drastic difference. I can measure some others I have, I would expect they would be in the same general range.
