November 9th -- End of the Day SOTD First use with a Superior Lather Catcher. As smooth as my Gem Jr Bar and as efficient as my Ever Ready LCs....just a really great shave!!! Two passes and I almost (inadvertently) caught the baby. This was a VERY generous trade made by a truly nice guy across the street. The handle isn't the one that came with it, but rather a celluloid handle I picked up from another generous person. Basically, I've been living a charmed life of late. As to the shave details, the brush is a Jayaruh #373, the soap was MWF and the blade was a GEM SS PTFE (5).

10/11/19 Pre: 1912 Scottish Heather Brush: Simfix Best Badger Soap: 1912 Scottish Heather Razor: Blackland Sabre L1 Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (6) Post shave: Alum Block, cold water splash, Homemade Witch Hazel Balm: Bart's Balm Rosemary and Sandalwood Balm & Lotion Aftershave: JPG Le Male' Remembrance Sunday Shave. An earlier than usual shave this morning which meant the Sabre did not have a lot to go at. I love my Sabre and the milder plate suits me down to the ground, a really easy, comfortable shave this morning 2 passes WTG & a mixed XTG/ATG pass for a DFS+ result. So a little bit breakfast then suited and booted then off to the Remembrance parade to give thanks to all the service personnel who gave so much for us. The Old timer in the Photo is my grandfather who fought with the DLI during the first world war seeing action on the Somme, Passchendaele and the Ypres salient. He was injured in 1916 his records state "gunshot wound to the head", he survived and it turns out he ran into a machine gun burst which glanced him from his thigh to his head grazing all the way up, i think about 6 or more times. He was 41 in 1916, he also was awarded the Military Medal which was gazetted 08/12/1916 - Maniac! Old heroes never die in my book. I am also fortunate enough to have many Ex servicemen as friends and we will be raising a glass or two to friends and "brothers" who are sadly not with us today. So enjoy your Sunday All.

A lovely story. The 8th of December has a special meaning for me. My wife has her birthday on that date.....although as far as I am aware.....she was not born in 1916.However my great uncle Robert died of wounds received on the Somme on 08/12/1916.

SE Sunday's ShaveCold Water Rinse Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap Jayaruh #292 1907 Gem Jr. Lather Catcher CVS CS SE CWR Granddad's Blend AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #292 Badger Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the 1907 Gem Jr. Lather Catcher razor with a CVS CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Granddad's Blend AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Great grandpa was in The Argon Forest in the great war, grandpa was shot in Iwo Jima, dad was in the peace time Corps, and I was in Iraq, had an Uncle in Vietnam, and a cousin in the Navy, operation Enduring Freedom they call it. All well and good to remember those who fought, but today, today is the 244th of my beloved Marine Corps!Semper Fi!

Sat 9th / Sun 10th Nov. Simpson Chubby 1 / Maggards 2band Mondial Tabacco Verde Occams V2/No3 plate Feather Proguard [ 1/2 ] La Toja A/S Lotion After a couple of nights away got Home very early, so used my Travel kit except the brush. Saturdays Shave was a bit off as I was not happy with the mirror set up, which made it difficult to shave especially around the neck. Back home it was much more comfortable and with ease got the Top NotchShave that I have come to associate with the Occams.
