Greetings
I posess, and have used all of the Turkish shave sticks including Derby. The difference in performance between Derby, Tweex, GZD and Arko which is the most commonly available, is very little indeed. In my opinion they all lather up superbly and perform as good as or better than the very expensive brands.
I think what makes them less popular is the scent which I personally like but a whole lot of people dislike or even hate, I think they all smell of Citronella others would say urinal blocks or cats pee!
Derby is every bit as pungent as Arko but Tweex is the most pungent of all with GZD the least, the scent of all of them is clearly out of the same stable. All of these sticks are soft and can if you choose be pressed into a container with thumb pressure, there is no need to grate them.
Derby now make a tub of soap which I understand (as I have not tried it) is very soft like Fume, which I have and which is superb.
All of this is of course just my opinion as you folk say YMMV!
Bestshave in Turkey is the place to get them but to get a good deal and qualify for free shipping you need to spend 50 USD.
Regards Dick.

I came by a stick of Derby recently. To me it seems a lot like Arko, with a slightly less intense smell. I like it for sure.
I think Palmolive, Derby, Arko, Williams, VDH and similar are the best value in shaving. Speick is slightly more expensive, but I prefer it's scent to the others. They surely are not bad in any way, but I'm a sucka for lavender.
