didn't know that. I didn't yet, but I definitely need to buy it. I never understood whether it is only an ebook or it is also available in physical format (I am a fan of the dear, old style, real books)

I prefer the ebook, because a) it is cheaper b) it is easier to search - try finding all folding razors in the physical book.

This a great way to view this info. This archive WayBack site can be pretty handy and will work well for this situation. Great thinking Riverrun. It would be such a shame to lose this info.

I used it when TOST was offline for a while. I'll add a version of the missing pages to my own site soon - just in case. I'm actually considering a complete re-write of that stuff... Appleby was not a web designer... there are also errors in his info (patents obviously )

I have (temporarily?) made two of Appleby's pages available on my web site: Schick Identification page: razors.click/safetyrazors.net/SchickTech/Schick Time Line: razors.click/safetyrazors.net/SchickYear/Also consider looking here: shavenook.com/misc.php?page=schick-injectorsThey have some models Appleby missed and corrected at least one of his patent errors... As valuable as those pages are - they are lacking. Maybe I'll do my own Schick Guide when I get some more time - I have some ideas... I might ask you guys for help with images (closeups of patent numbers, safety bars, pictures of boxes etc) and with information on models. Getting all those E/G models sorted out might be messy. I need to sleep on this....

Also I went and poked around TSR, which I haven't done for some time. A very strong site I must say. This disappearance of safetyrazors.net and even the recent Photobucket bait and switch really speaks to the need to keep in mind a responsibility of sorts in maintaining razor info/history for the long run and how to best do that. Big question in this digital age when information just disappears. Even the WayBack archive and others only capture pieces of site images and once they go they are pretty much gone. Regarding updating the Appleby system it is important I believe to maintain the original. Certainly including additional info is good, but it should be done in a way that supplements the original rather than edit/rewrite it. I have seen a couple of rewrites that really end up confusing things rather than revealing them. A tough project.

I have seen a couple of rewrites that really end up confusing things rather than revealing them. A tough project. Thanks for your kind comments. The Internet Archive ("WayBack") is likely to be around for a while. They have been doing their splendid job for more than 20 years and I believe they are well funded. I would want to keep the Appleby classification system, but it might need extending (see shavenook page). Appleby missed some models. Maybe some types need subtypes (Canadian made vs. US made - I'm just thinking aloud). But there are at least three ways I can see to improve on Appleby's presentation: 1. The information for a single razor is currently split between the time line and the classification and I would like to see it in just one place 2. More pictures - a lot more - of every single model. Especially details: closeup of patent inscriptions, closeup of guard, closeup of springs of E-Types, packaging.... that kind of stuff would help as an identification guide. Maybe copies of the instructions where available. 3. Additional, easy to get information, like dimensions and weight. 4. Maybe something like ↪this page for unmentionables, only for Schick injectors. I'm not in a hurry though... And when I'm done, I'll do the same for every single 1912 variant out there...

I like it. And with more pictures per model, evidencing the differences between one and another, will be just perfect.

Bravo and Bully RR...I really DIG what you have done with the old Schick Timeline....It never looked this good! Would you consider leaving a copy of your completed version in our Schick Archives?....I think if you did consider it...It should be a sealed complete thread as is...by you and accredited to you...and not something folks would continue to comment on....There could be other threads for that...But a modernized better Schick Timeline is surely needed anyway...whether the old one was still available or not... Knowing this bunch around here, I'm sure everyone would be glad to help in anyway they could...Course if you wanted to keep it private, I completely understand that aswell...
What are your thoughts?

The linked page is a first draft. Something done in an afternoon. Subject to change and incomplete. Once it's finished I'll remove special effects and reformat it for forum use. Obviously. Until a few days ago I thought Appleby's way of having his classification and timeline was a bit odd, now I absolutely hate it. Why can't the timeline refer to the model numbers? There is duplicate information. There is conflicting or at least confusing information. Schick Type D: Timeline says 1935-36, classification says 1935 only. Just one tiny example.
Here's my plan: Starting with the Type A, I'll be asking people to help with - photos - instructions - advertisements - measurements - descriptions - knowledge Once I'm happy that the information collected makes sense and is (sort of) complete, I'll move on to the Schick B1. Somewhere around the Type E3 I expect a major war between members and forums...

I need to try and define a bunch of standard views and angles that I ideally want to have for every razor included. Anyone with a NOS Type A and a professional camera? Actually, any Type A and and any camera (or mobile phone) that can focus should do
