Now that was Interesting! Anybody ever seen a "Yankee" razor? I also found it interesting that stainless blades have only been around since '63. Fairly new on the scene.
I wonder if the guy who started Gem and Ever Ready went out on his own due to a fuede or if it was simply to diversify?
Thanks for the link. Now I really want a Star! LOL.

I believe when Reichard started Gem he also had the Zinn Family as partners and he brought in the genius August Scheuber for new designs....When Reichard left he took Scheuber with him and they were the R & S Manufacturing Co. and made Yankee Razors and 2 years later became Ever Ready...So now it was just him and August in the drivers seat...Before this, I know August designed so many great razors. The Gem Junior Bar and Gem 1912 being just 2 of them. And even though the patents are in his name the ownership of his designs were assigned to the Zinns since he worked for them...So I imagine that was probably part of Scheuber's motivation to leave and start R & S Manf. Co. with Reichard....Later they formed the American Safety Razor Co. by merging with Gem Cutlery in 1906.....In 1919 they merged with Star and became the American Safety Razor Corporation...But I don't see August Scheuber name still on the board...I'd love to know where he was at that time. Joe Kaufman was president of the ASR Co. and the ASR Corp...Joe's the cat who designed the ER 1914....and JB de Mesquita was Vice Pres. and he designed the ER 1924....
This is an over simplification, but this is sure a fascinating time...all these great people making razor history at the same time....I need to find a great book about all these people with pics....I'm mean, this was a serious scene....And we're using the fruits of their labor like every day; 80 to 100 years later....Thats pretty heavy...

This thread has been dormant for exactly six years to the day. As it has the perfect title for my purpose it is time to revive it. I came across some interesting research about ASR that a guy in Brazil had done. Lots of material. All in Portuguese. My Portuguese is - well - let's not talk about my complete lack of Portuguese. I suggested that if he would translate his stuff into English, I'd throw in a German translation and we could publish the whole trilingual thing on my website. He agreed. The first of five parts has now been done and can be found here: razors.click/asr/Parts two to five will follow shortly I hope.
