Continuing with my reviews of some creams and soaps I purchased from WCS, here is my thoughts on the Godrej Shaving Round:
Manufature location: India
Ingredients: Potassium Palmate, Potassium Stearate, Potassium Cocoate, Glycerin, Titanium Dioxide, Perfume, CI-74160
Positive aspects of the product (pros): Old time smell and lathers well
Cons: At times, hard to locate.
Price: 9. I paid $3.00 USD for it. Not a bad deal
Quality: 8. The round comes in a plastic case with holes in bottom for drainage. The puck barely fits the case and has edges which flake of easily.
Scent: 8. Once again I can't describe the scent. It does have an "old world" smell to it. Light and pleasant.
Latherability: 9. The round produced a good amount of lather from it. There was plenty for at least 3 passes.
Efficacy: 8. The soap performs much like any glycerin based products. Very good glide, but somewhat lacking in cushioning.
Moisturizing Properties: 6, fair. Even with glycerin, my face felt quite dry after the shave. I would recommend a good balm aftershave, some like Krampert's (shameless plug ).
Packaging: 8, as noted above the packaging is ok, but reminds me of a mass producted item, efficient and sparse.
Many has called this the Williams of India, but I will not and dare not go that far in comparison. It is a good soap, but there are many better options out there for a little bit more money; in fact, I can buy Williams for $1.50. Once this round is gone, I will not order it again. As an added note this soap is manufactured for Godrej by Tirupati Engineering.
If you are looking for a glycerin alternative to Williams, this maybe for you. For me, I think I will grate this into a container with some of my left over shaving soap and sticks to make a Heinz 57 soap.
