After acquiring a few Schick injectors I wanted to experiment with other less popular injectors. My first Schick injector alternative was the PAL Injectomatic. The Injectomatic, despite it's simple basic design and light weight is quite a competant shaver rivaling my Schick Types E and G injectors. If the PAL Injectomatic was the only injector I had it would literally be all that I needed. My second alternative to Schick injectors is the lonely Gillette Twinjector. I am tempted to say that this is Gillette's first and only dive into the injector spotlight, I did stumble upon what appears to be an "experimental" Gillette injector though I do not have any information about it.
I was fortunate to score a Gillette Twinjector with the case and the original cartridge included. The Twinjector has a plastic metal hybrid construction, the T head and body design is quite reminiscent of my Schick N1. These two injectors are both roughly the same length and weight. I gave the Twinjector a test drive (with a Chick blade) and found it to be quite mild though I find the Schick N1 to be a tad more mild. This injector is so mild that going ATG on the upper lip is literally a breeze. At times I wanted to push down during the shave due to the injector's incredibly mild characterstic. I tend to favor very mild injectors so the Gillette Twinjector is a winner. If you favor mild injectors then you will love Gillette's injector incarnation.
I do not care for the twin injector blades and I do not intend to use them. I understand that some feel that the twin blades actually add a bit of aggressiveness to the Twinjector. The twin blade looks as if it can clog easily though this is only an observation. Here is a picture of a Gillette Twinjector blade compared to a single injector blade. The Twinjector blade is litterally two single blades sandwiched one on top of the other. The bottom (first) blade is set lower then the top (second) blade. I wanted to add that the Twinjector blade used in the photo was the original blade that came installed in my Gillette injector and is a bit corroded (darkened) on the top.
