Nice ad for a GEM razor circa 1904. Looks like George Lucas was endorsing it. Attachments:

I was reading the text looking for something Lucas like, then scrolled back up to the picture and promptly quoted Homer Simpson, "D'oh"! I bet the original ad had another guy, but since technology of the time prevented the artist from fulfilling his true vision, old George stepped in to help out and "fix" the issue

That is indeed a wonderful ad!! I love the mag - "Hardware and Metal" - leaves room for quite a few products!
The globe display unit - the Silent Salesman - wouldn't that be a tremendous item to have with those razors displayed inside? If it wouldn't scare the sn*t of the wife I would probably clear off the top of the master bedroom headboard and place it right in the middle!! Yep - move over the family stuff - I got a loaded 1904 GEM display!!!
The coat of arms at the top - very unusual relating to GEM - have never seen that associated with them. It is The Royal Coat of Arms of the British Monarchy. This was most likely a british magazine as Americans would not be very familiar with it at the time. Even though they had a US address in the ad, they seem to be implying that they are the razor of kings!!!
Great ad - thnx!

That is an awesome ad. I spend a lot of time looking at the old ads, some of them are amazing.
