As for my experience, which of course is small if compared to some of the gentlemen here, I have only seen the metal tip on gold Featherweights. There are 4 versions of this razor I am aware of: thicker head profile (same as the HFT) in chrome w/cream colored handle, flatter head profile in chrome w/cream colored handle, flatter head profile in gold w/cream colored handle and gold metal tip and finally there is a black colored handle version with chrome head but having not held one in my hands I don't know anything about the head profile.

We can probably assume three handle variants (cream, cream w/gold tip & black) and two head variants (heavy flat top and lighter style) ... and three manufacturers (GEM, Ever Ready & Star). 3x2x3 = 18 So, 18 variants! Sheesh! I'd better get back out there ... I've only got 6

You're right Paul, in my post I was referring only to the ones under GEM brand (as the ones that I have are). Guess I gotta hunt down some ER and Star Still, I am not sure whether all types of handle did combine with all types/finishes of heads...for example all the gold plated FW I've come across had the thinner head profile, never saw one in gold with the HFT profile, as I never saw one in gold with the black handle. Now, if we could only find that topic SD was mentioning....

True, it's doubtful all combinations were made, but they might be ... like hunting for Haggis
