Man, everyone seems to dog this stuff...In fact, I've read so many bad reviews that I haven't tried it since the '60's... Well, tried it today and I Love it! This is right up there with my all time favorites....I'll need to try it over time to see if it is my no.1....But it sure is a contender.....What do you cats think?

Back in the 80's I was given a glass bottle of English Leather Musk cologne (by Mem) as a gift. Since I rarely splash on cologne the bottle is practically full. The old vintage Mem version is fantastic. I try not to wear it because I hate being hit on by all the beautiful babes!

I remember the 60s and "everybody" wearing it. I don't think I could use it today if I had any; no chance of that though.
I do have a bottle of EL "Timberline" and every once in a while I'll uncap the bottle and take a whiff. At one time I found it acceptable enough to wear, but I haven't worn any cologne in years. Or is it aftershave? Anyway, I no longer use it.

I love the English Leather AS.. I think I will use some this afternoon. I have one of Krissy's shave soaps in a scent called '"Wild wild west". It smells like a leather shop. A great duo for an afternoon shave...

Yeah back in the '60's I like it too, liked the Leather, good bath soap. One day guys in High school were dousing in Canoe, bingo--next was English. then Zizanie or Paco. Plus I have some good scent memories associated with the English. Yeah good stuff.

A great duo for an afternoon shave... I picture you way down south, the temp is up in the 90's. You sort of just stride up to the mirror with a 'make my day' attitude and whip up a batch of leathery lather. You soap up and shave, the whole while staring yourself down in the mirror. You finish your last pass, put down the razor quickly then with one swift move......... Ahhh English Leather in the wild, wild south. I used to like it years ago. But frankly, I have not seen any for a long time.

I saw it at Sears the other day....sampled it and dug it so I copped it........But upon careful testing, I think it opens pretty uncomfortably.....Then it hits it's stride, and really Rocks!.... It's a Classic, that has a high dollar scent for most of it's longevity....It does smell like a leather shop...and for a while it knocks me out.....But then at the end, it's basenotes turned a little sour on me....;(.....I resplashed with some AV after a few hours to freshen things up...I need to test more to reach a definitive conclusion....It does smell better than it costs....Jury is still out on this one.....But til then....when alls said and done......I'll probably be wearing Aqua Velva and Pinauld Bay Rum in the Wild Wild South....ha,ha...

This thread is so old but I want to bring it back since I dug out my sixties era bottle of English Leather, a new bottle believe it or not. Digging around in a old storage place in the house looking for some other shave stuff and found the EL along with some used but not finished Nine Flags cologne.
Ad for EL, I like it but my wife really likes it on me. So I am back to using stuff with alcohol in it and do I get a nice little sting when applied. But the scent lasts for awhile. Need to be careful and not use toooooo much of the stuff, just a little splash and you are set for the day.

I hadn't even thought about English Leather for decades until a few months ago when I came across a huge bottle of the aftershave at a local swap meet. It was in a sealed box and I could barely remember the scent (but I remembered that I used to like it), but I took a chance and bought it anyway. I still like it, my wife likes it, so it's now in my regular rotation. There was a commercial that was considered pretty racy at the time. "All my men wear English Leather . . . or they wear nothing at all." --Bob

If your wife digs it that much be careful how much you splash....You might end up with some new little "possums" running around...}8^))
