I think poor language on these sites is in poor taste. But,
HOLY CRAP!!!!!
That is absolutely outstanding. I am just sort of looking stunned here on my end. (normal for me maybe, but it feels different this time!)
That is the kind of find that has me still loving these wonderful old shaving machines.
Thanks for the post Paul.

Thanks, RocketMan! I should also say that I was pipped in the bidding, yet a couple of days later the seller gave me a second chance offer. I grabbed it with both hands! We're a tiny corner of a small niche interest of a utilitarian activity. To even see something like this is a rare thing, let along own one ... let along a minter. In TOST's absence, I also found a mint Sun Ray set with price labels, shippers, etc. Call me by my Monty Python name: Two Sun Rays These finds are (still) out there ...

Thanks guys.... This ER 1909 shaves like you would expect a 1924 too; as you might guess; only like a 1924 on steroids....Just as close only very, very smooth...and did I mention how smooth it shaved....Lol, yep, this rascal is a real charmer...so smooth, that the closness of the strokes really surprises you. I sometimes with this one have a little trouble getting the new GEM blades to stay under the side guards, so I just slip an injector blade under the side guards to lock it in, problem averted... See as I go to slide the GEM blade under the side hooks toward the front blade stops on the comb. I lay an injector blade on top, edge towards the side blade holders. The GEM spine butts up against the back of the injector blade and holds it in place as you slide them both under the side hooks and forward til the SE blade edge stops against the front blade stops. Easy Fix! I've heard some have that prob with their 1924s...the samething will work there aswell... This is my fix for when a modern blade won't fit tight in an ER 1924 or 1909 in this case... But on my Ides of March shave I sat down with my 1909, my glasses, and a pair of needle nose pliers...and adjusted the back spring that holds the blade, and the two side blade holders....Now no need for the fix...She holds a new blade like a Champ and pops open with speed and force like a new razor. And NOT having to use the injector blade to hold the SE blade tight has also turned the volume up on my shaves another notch or two! My 1909 is now maybe my loudest shaver...lol! Whoot!

PJGH YO Paul, what is the imitation Gold? Mine is bare Brass...Rocket's is bare brass with a lacquer....Is the "imitation gold" some type of lacquer ? I was thinking of getting this one Gold plated...She certainly deserves it....But maybe Gold Lacquered would be more inkeeping with her tradition...

I'm sorry - I genuinely have no idea, or how to check. It "wears evenly" though Yes, gold plating is something this razor is quite worthy of ... you'd be best speaking to a more knowledgeable metallurgist about coating and plating.

Sooooooo ummmmmmmm yeaaaaaaaa. When this arrives will it get me into the club? View AttachmentIt would if it was a 1909 ... that's a 1907 (ish). Still nice, though, providing the transition between wedge and slim blade as the razor can take either.

We will see how it cleans up. At the least I get into the ER lather catcher club. That's the plan anyway.

Personally, I see that one as the Ever-Ready equivalent of the original Gem Junior with the extra bar. The key difference is that the Ever-Ready can take a wedge. It's a nice razor, certainly! You'll see where the 1914 design came from when it's in your hands.
... this 1909 is the precursor of the 1924 design.
