I received this as a secret Santa gift. It was on my wishlist but I will not buy it. The claims are that it lasts a year. It is alum. It deodorizes because it supposedly kills the bacteria which cause bad odor. Other than that it has no scent. There are no antiperspirant effects. You keep on sweating like a pig. Anyways it is useless for covering armpit odor. During these very cold Chicago winters I find myself always showering nightly as to prevent dry skin. I apply the Crystal nightly, go to sleep and the next day I wake up I smell again. Absolutely useless. This is in stark contrast with the non-natural anti-antiperspirant I regularly use. As Crystal is just alum it can be used for shaving purposes and that is the only purpose I am willing to recommend it for. It costs about $5 and is easily obtainable.

I haven't used that, but I do use the alum block that one finds on the online shave retailers and I find that it works great.
Correct, it doesn't stop sweating but it does keep armpit stink away. I've been using it for years now.

I have one of those and my wife and I both use it. As Brian mentioned, it is not an anti-perspirant (and doesn't claim to be) but it works for us for preventing odor.
And, in a pinch I can use it for post-shave treatment (after a thorough rinsing!)

I (rarely) use my expensive dinky alum block. There was a cheap alum block being made from Istanbul I believe? Thanks for the heads up on the Crystal!

I have that exact stick and I use it after my shaves on my face. I also use it for deodorant every now and again. Mostly in cooler months and when I have no reason to expect anything other than no smell for a limited amount of time.
Other words it works well for me for running to the store and around town then home, where I'm probably going to do something that makes me smell anyway.
