Hi Guys, I have finally received my 2 first Ever-Ready 1912 and I love them - One is manufactured in the US and the other one in Great Britain. I would like like to clean - what's best ? -> Immerge in Coke for a night -> Clean with an Ultrasonic device ? -> A tooth brush with strong toothpaste ... Please let me know ? Thanks Stilgar

Nice! Enjoy To clean, yes, if you have an ultrasonic cleaner, use it. I don't but I clean all my razors with Peek Polish and a toothbrush.

If you have an ultrasonic cleaner by all means use it, but it is not necessary to run out and buy one. Soak them in hot water (not boiling hot) and clean them with a toothbrush. Don't use toothpaste - many toothpastes contain abrasives.

If the razors aren't too dirty/tarnished, which seems to be the case, I normally use a toothbrush, a soft sponge and dish soap. Soak the razor in hot (not boiling) water plus dish soap for 15/20 mins and then scrub with the sponge and the toothbrush. Repeat until you are satisfied with the result. Then I wash the razor thoroughly with water and soak it for another 20 mins in Benzalkonium chloride antiseptic and finish by scrubbing again with the toothbrush. Of course if you have an ultrasonic cleaner you can substitute this 2nd part with it.

My method is very simple and gentle. Soak razors in hot water with drops of dish soap (for at least 30 minutes). Dab dish soap on razors, scrub with a soft tooth brush. Then clean razors with dish soap using a non abrasive soft cloth. I don't want to risk damaging any razor so it's just dish soap. A little too cautious? I suppose.
You have two beautiful razors! I love both American and British ornate handle 1912's, they look great together.

Yeah, immersed in Coke is sound advice.....Great cleaner....Used to use it for freeing off sticky piston rings and cleaning engine parts..... I never drink it.....

Coke freed off a sticky TTO mechanism on one of my Flying Wings ... it's the bubbles, innit?
