Loading up my Push Button this morning, was quite surprised to find that inside the top cover , it is stamped Ever Ready-made in USA.
Clearly marked GEM on the handle. Is the Push Button mechanism a GEM invention, which is attached to an Ever Ready Head ?

Ha! You have an Ever-GEM Both of mine are GEM under the cap. This does suggest that there was such a thing as an Ever Ready Push Button! The head is the same as the Heavy Flat Top/Natural Angle, which we know were released under the Ever Ready brand both from US and UK factories. I wonder if this was one of those transitional razors, when the factory switched the lines over from one to the other. Well, that's another one added to the list ... What a gem!

You are good at spotting differences ... Well, a lovely cased Push Button arrived today with me, giving every indication that it is a British market model. Two things: first, it has a leaflet with it making reference to an "Ever Ready GEM Razor"; second, this one has an Ever Ready baseplate and GEM on the handle. I think we can conclude (thus far) that this is a British model oddity. I'm going to guess that all those Natural Angle bases (both Heavy Flat Top and Featherweight) were mated to imported GEM handles.

Nice. I just bought one, but unfortunately, the previous owner seems to have stored it on a soldering iron. Meaning, the razor itself is intact, but the plastic thing has come off, and by off I mean 3mm, the handle. Does anyone know which material the black stuff is? If it were plastic, simply heating it and pushing it back into shape might work. If it is Bakelite (which I doubt), I would have to think of something else.
Thanks!

Definitely not bakelite. It is a resin plastic.
