Good work saving that blade! Incredible. I'd have thought it was a goner.

Beautiful catch, and nice work on the blade!
What did you use to remove the rust from the sides of the blade? I've tried steel wool without much success.

Start with 400 or 600 grit wet dry sandpaper. Alternate directions as you move up in grits. 1000 and a polish with get you to an entry level mirror finish, 2k-3k to polish will produce a finer result. The thing you have to make sure of is you have deleted all of the previous grit's scratches. Wear gloves.

Obviously here I just attacked it and didn't mirror it. It still needs work. Breadknifing an edge this far makes a lot of work to get a bevel back.

The back clip would probably hold firm even with another 1/8" gone. This is a very well-engineered iteration of the lather catcher head. These gem blades actually need to be honed in the holder or with enough tape to raise the spine as even when they are not worn, if you calculate bevel based on spine width vs height, the spine is not thick enough for a bevel in that optimal sort of 17 to 18 degree zone. If anything, killing the height to get rid of the chips and splits made it less geometrically challenged to hone outside of the stropping handle, but breadknifing gives you an incredibly blunt starting point. No edge. Once I get it shaving arm hair effortlessly, it will be quick going. All of these wedge razors have really excellent steel fwiw.
