I've had this Art Deco style handle for some time. It's a lovely handle, heavy bakelite and its into the hand just right. It came with a horribly worn badger knot which came out really easily, thanks to the base which unscrews; something which assisted in the setting of this new knot ... I've tried all sorts of knots with this handle but just couldn't quite get it right for how I wanted to use the handle - chiefly, as a good scrubbing face latherer. Finally, I've landed on the right knot: a 20x67mm pure bristle knot from these guys. Upon arrival, which was literally a matter of days from China to the UK, it felt very rough, really quite cheap (which it is) but soaking it revealed that firm but soft thing you get from boar bristle. Set into the handle at 22x55, it's absolutely bob on! Test lathered, it has now relaxed a little. The firmness is great for scratching away at good soaps and then proper massaging if not scrubbing the face while lathering up. Great, alongside my similarly styled shaving soap bowl which is filled with Mitchell's Wool Fat, naturally

*sigh* Those were the days. That is what I call design. I wish those self appointed "custom" handle makers would use designs like that as an inspiration, and not marriage aids. Thank you for sharing.

Cheers, chaps.
I used the brush for the first time tonight as part of a shave, as opposed to a test lather. Super job! Scritchy! Just right!
