It's a 1924.
1924: Cap hinged at ends of comb.
1914: Cap hinged at rear of base plate, "LIFT HERE" stamped on ends of cap.

Nice one! The ER 1924 is the best balanced and best shaving safety razor that has ever been made (if you ask me!)

Thanks
After I made the post, I found some help to pinpoint it as a 1924.
It's my first vintage SE or DE with the case, I'll be using it tomorrow.
Have a great weekend.

OK I'm asking, what makes you feel that way? Thanks For me the ER 1924 has the best combination of aggression and smoothness. It feels great in the hand and on the face, and gives a superb result which is long lasting and very smart. In fact it's the tops!

Hi Marcus, Are you taking about Vintage Razors only, or would you rate it above the Mongoose which you have been using recently. Hope so, as I do need to stop the urge to go for a Mongoose. Bad enough that I am straying by planning to use an injector , blades ordered - so maybe a go next week. Mike

Good question Mike! For me the ER 1924 is the pinnacle of classic vintage shaving - all other considerations aside, it's simply the best shaving safety razor.
The Mongoose is a big powerful work of art and modern engineering that will change the way you shave.
If they were films, the ER 1924 would be the Maltese Falcon and the Mongoose would be Pulp Fiction - both utterly excellent but of completely different styles.

Hi Marcus, Not really the answer I wanted to hear. As you know I like the 1924, and thanks to you may have to consider something from the Mongoose family. But will bide my time. Injector Blades ordered yesterday , here today . Have watched videos on loading , so may be an injector shave on the horizon. Mike

Shaved with the 1924 this morning. Close, BBS shave with my usual three passes, WTG, XTG, ATG.
I would say it's as good as the MMOC in terms of shave quality and maybe a little more aggressive. I need to use it a bit more to get a better feel about it.
My DE's are sitting on the bench and may not see action for awhile.
The SE's I have are giving me really great shaves, I wish I would have tried them sooner. Oh well, better late than never!

Congrats on your first ER 1924 shave! There are so many great razors to be shaved with, it's worth trying as many as you can to find out what suits you.
And all these razors keep their value well, so you can always sell on the one's you don't like.
Same goes for the Mongoose Mike. The previous batch have actually appreciated in value, so there's nothing to lose by buying one, and everything to gain!

Feeling a little burn this afternoon, I might need to go a little lighter tomorrow.
For a small handled razor, it's got some girth!

Now you know why it is sometimes called the "Shovelhead" (to the consternation of Harley Davidson aficionados everywhere). --Bob

Had a little burn today also. I shaved with the MMOC for a week and did not get any burn.
It did give a great shave, I guess my face needs to get used to it.
I have a British made 1912 and a Junior on the way. When they arrive, I'm going to switch and go back to the 1924 later on.

The ER 1924 shaves best with a steeper angle closer to that of a DE if that's any help.
