This Macy Associates brush caught my eye on eBay. I'd seen it for sale before and forgot to bid when it came to the crucial moment ... I forgot about it, but saw it relisted a couple of months later and so chased it that time. As shown for selling: Nylon bristle knot, actually not as bad as those fishing wire knots and very much like an old version of those Omega synthetic bristle knots, but it was old and really wanted replacing. Removed, innards removed, drilled out a little and a 20x65 knot installed and set to 22x55: ... one of those popular Plisson-like knots. Lovely!

Lovely, indeed! May I ask where do you buy the Plisson-like knots?

Ta. I got this one from China (where all knots really come from) but the offer has now gone. Presumably, they had a load in and have now sold them.

Interesting!
Petrus, I don't know if you have access, but The Golden Nib has/had really good knots for a reasonable price. I've used their Finest Fan badgers and their synthetics with great success. I haven't bought a knot from them in possibly 3 years but I doubt that anything has changed. A google search would be telling.
If I had to buy a knot today it would be the first place that I'd look.
I'm not affiliated with them in any way other than as a full retail price paying customer.

Another option is Whipped Dog. They offer synthetic knots and complete brushes that are very similar to the Plisson, with just a touch more backbone. Larry is a great guy to deal with, and his international shipping rates (you're in Italy IIRC) are extremely reasonable.

Thank you all, guys! I'm just looking around, because sooner or later I'd like to start "customising" some brushes...and right now I'm most interested in synthetic knots. Thanks for the advices, I'll have a look both at the Golden Nib and Whipped Dog.

For knots other than the Plissoft, I've bought from Ian Tang, Virginia Sheng & Ace Shaving on eBay. They're all in China. Delivery has been as quick as a week, longest was about three weeks.

You like that? How about this? I re-knotted it with Muhle Silvertip Fibre ... ... much finer

Up in this topic I asked about where to buy the Plisson-like knots, but what about the Muhle Silvertip Fibres or anything similar? Paul, for the second combination, did you use a knot belonging previously to a Muhle brush or did you buy the knot only?

shaving.ie sell Muhle knots to screw into some of their interchangeable handles. I like the knot and I've bought a good few of them. You can email Muhle direct about buying their knots.

ok, thanks for the info! I've got a friend, fellow member at another shaving forum, who's experimenting a lot with re-knotting, so I'm thinking of having one or two brushes with synthetic knots made by him.
