I always let those kinds of things slide. I do like that movie a lot. A whole lot actually I do as well. It's a movie...fantasy...not a documentary.

Sooo. A great shave from the Williams today. I used a little generic boar brush and a 1912 Gem. Outstanding I say.

Used some Williams yesterday with my B&B boar brush. Always gives me an excellent shave. Plenty of cushion and slickness for my Streamline. I'm amazed more people don't love this soap.

Sooo. New people. Thoughts in the Williams??? Greetings The reason you hear so little mention of this soap from this side of the Atlantic is simply that it is not sold here and as a result very few UK shavers have ever tried it, myself included. It costs about six or seven pounds to buy it over here with the postage costs. I suspect the reason no UK supplier stocks it is because of the very mixed and conflicting reviews it receives from your side of the pond. Regards Dick.

I'm currently working my way through a puck. I get good shaves from it even though the lather isn't super luxurious. I have to use a surprisingly large amount of water with this soap to make the lather stable, but it works just fine. I usually make lather that's fairly wet and slick not thick and rich anyway, so this stuff falls right in line with how I like to work. On top of that the fragrance doesn't seem to trigger my wife's migraines.

Well I'll let ya' know my thoughts after the sotd on Saturday. Just got 2 pucks from the Glen Rock factory. I like the first ingredient--Sodium Tallowate. I'm a face lathering FatHead. Didn't use this back then so it will be "new" to me. Enjoy the weekend!!

Top of the day!, What a very nice soap. What I liked: Everything. I let it soak up some water, put the boar to it and voila! I use Tallow soaps almost exclusively so I kinda knew what to expect and specially after reading all the good written here. Afterwards I didn't need an asl. No drying at all. Now I must hunt down a case! yeah right. But thanks for your opinions. Enjoy all![ ] _________________________ I added cool smileys to this message... if you don't see them go to: s.exps.me

Thanks to the kindness of Shadowsdad I now have some Williams and am keen to try it. I'm excited that it's been around since 1840 since I've been trying proper retroshaving using a scuttle and a razorcloth instead of the sink, so this will be most appropriate.

Quick update: tried Williams and love it! Soft water here in Devon and it lathers great, smells like sophisticated Arko, and the slight drying/tightening effect on my skin suits me very well. It can also absorb lots of water for extra glide - great!
