Hi everybody, I bought a Gem Junior stropper to match with my Gem Junior bar near NOS, and was surprised by the difficulties of working. The stropper arrived as in photo, and I thought would work as the old Wilkinson stropper ( square frame) but...... the 2 pillars, when turned by the leather, spin the blade in the wrong direction, in the case of a stropping action. So the question is: how does it work?

... are you feeding the strop over the first prong, under the blade holder and over the other prong?

Yes, and only one side is admitted, where the leather touches the back of the blade-holder, that is flat.

My Kampfe Bros. stropper doesn't work like that. Once the blade is loaded the whole thing is just moved back and forth over the strop. The strop is not threaded through anything - both of the prongs/rollers/whatever are above the strop, on the same side of the strop as the blade.
This is actually quite nice as it means the stopper can be used with a standard straight razor strop, which would be too thick to thread through anything.

Inside there are a lot of levers and gears, which move prongs/pillars and blade holder but if you thread the leather on the flat side of blade-holder ( first picture), the prongs/pillars make the balde-holder move in the wrong direction ( honing direction)............. .
