I just found out that the "World's First & Only Shaving Show" (their words, not mine) is taking place in San Diego this weekend. www.shavecon.com/More to follow. --Bob

Wow! What a brilliant thing.
Are you going to attend? I'd like to see plenty more of these...

Well of course I attended! It was held at the historic Horton Grand hotel in downtown San Diego. It won't be replacing ComicCon as San Diego's largest convention any time soon, but it was a lot of fun. It was smaller than I expected (and I was expecting small), with perhaps a dozen or so vendors exhibiting. The Captain was there: I got to try the lastest scents from Chiseled Face Groomatorium: The vintage razor exhibits were a disappointment. In fact, this was it: Single edge razors were not well represented, but there were a few: There is a Wilkinson Empire 7 Day set in the front, and an Ever-Ready 1924 in the black. On the bottom shelf of the other cabinet there was an Ever-Ready Lather Catcher. That was about it. Mostly I stocked up on soaps and aftershaves (Cryogen pre-shave balm - awesome!) and looked at custom brushes. I did pick up a custom red cedar handle that looks really nice on my Alumigoose. I hope there will be another one next year, but there weren't a lot of people there so who knows? The event was not well promoted. I think I'm fairly well plugged in to the wet shaving community, but I would have missed this entirely if I had not caught it being mentioned on the local TV news last night. --Bob

fingers, do not type anything.
Edit: I just can't hold them back. Obviously the folks promoting it aren't us. So what did all 10 attendees have to say about it?
Dang! I should have been there! My products can be used with canned crud and carts!

You're right - you should have been here! You'd have gotten a weekend getaway in San Diego and been able to write the whole trip off as a business expense. A whole lot more people should have been here. The event was poorly promoted - actually, not promoted at all that I can see. I participate in multiple shaving forums, subscribe to numerous shaving newsletters and mailing lists, not to mention the fact that I live here, yet I would have missed it had I not happened to see it mentioned the previous evening on the local TV news. As you can see from the pictures it was, shall we say, lightly attended. A shame, as San Diego has a sizable wet shaving community. The few people that were there seemed to be enjoying themselves, and I had a good time. There is much larger one happening this coming Saturday in Pasadena. It's called The Big Shave West 2 and is sponsored by Old Town Shaving. I'm debating making the 2 hour drive. --Bob

Ha ha - I have more vintage razors in my bathroom than at that exhibition. Maybe one of us should hire out their collection to the next convention. It does look like a lot of fun though

Dang, I live here and I never heard about it. That and it was about 2-3 months before I first started getting into traditional wet shaving. I guess they aren't doing them any more, as the website is completely gone, replaced by an ad to buy the domain.
