A 1st bowlful of the new to me Gawith and Hoggarth 1oz. testers Gawith Hoggarth Kendal American Delite in a small Straight no name briar. The American Delite is G&H's take on Lane 1Q i believe. I packed the pipe a little loose and had no bother lighting the bowl. I really like this one, a really nice smoke, very easy and tasty. I must admit i am now very mindful of my smoking pace and draw strength, i am now basically coaxing the smoke through the stem and savoring it a little before expelling, a much better experience i am receiving for it. On the plus side, my Cigarette smoking has greatly reduced (this was not intentional), i am now mostly remembering not to inhale the pipe smoke but "taste & Savour" it. I also picked up a local bargain of 12 X 500ml Kilner storage jars half price for when i bulk buy. (6 in the photo) I also took delivery of a Meerschaum Churchwarden from the "Bay" Impulse buy.

MySmokingshops Gentleman's Choice in the Meerschaum churchwarden. And did i need it! A bit of a day on today, 1st off the boiler would not fire up, not a happy Mrs, I managed to reset it to get hot water on, 3 times in a fortnight (high winds maybe??), anyway booked a gas engineer to check it out. A great walk on a nice bright winters day on the beach, then a couple of pints of Ale to set me up for lunch while Mrs T had a couple of coffees to warm through, i did not take my pipe, however, had a mini Cigar on the walk. I Did not take my Cigarettes. Off to the local eatery we chose to use and they had a waiting list of 90 mins plus, another pint then. We decided to go to a small family owned Italian - a favourite of both of us and all was well, apart from eating too much good food. My steak was wonderful. Back home and what do i find? the postie has been with my next delivery of trial tobaccos, even before i had my coat off the Meer was filled with the Gentleman's Choice, an own blend from Mysmokingshop.com. This is its description:- Choice Virginia's of different shades are blended with some Burley flavoured with Vanilla to give a great all day smoke. To give the blend a bit of variety we mix in a few other secret ingredients that we change every 6-12 months. I Think its their end of Jar Special, there is all kinds in it, sliced plug, cubed, flake and ready rubbed. A very nice consistency and no powder or dried bits. It has an aroma that i like, not too sweet and really a "full" tobacco hit. I filled the new Meer bowl to the top, gravity again, tapping as i filled it, topped off with some of the smaller pieces and gently eased the tobacco under the rim. The bowl lit 1st time and it had a good even burn, no harshness or real sweetness - nothing bad, I got a lovely tobacco flavour, quite 70's really for me, took me back a bit, that could be the ale though. it did not burn too quickly and all of the tobacco was smoked leaving on a light ash in the bottom of the bowl. It will be getting another run out later. Enjoy your bowlfuls All

G & H Jamaican Flake in GP's Delacour Camargue St Claude. My 1st go at Flake, I slightly rubbed it out and loosely packed the bowl. The pipe lit nicely and the tobacco hit is there from the start, you do get a sweetness towards the back end. This seems much stronger than what I have been using. Burning more slowly but very nice. Enjoy your smokes All. Update:- Is it just me or is the nicotine hit from flake much stronger than ready rubbed. This bowlful gave me a right slap up the side of the head. So much so the dogs have had another walk around the park. Nice though. A bowl of flake will be a 3 or 4 visit smoke.

During my 2nd smoke of the churchwarden meer, the bowl cracked at the stem. Contacted the seller and he gave an immediate refund. Hmmm put me off getting another meerschaum.

Finished off the Peterson Churchwarden bowl of G&H Ultimum this morning. Had another bowl of Ultimum in the Peterson Rocky Rustic 80S mid morning. It has been rested cleaned and refilled with Peterson Connoisseurs Choice for a dog walk (trying to build a lining on it) it will then be rested for a while after another clean. The Ultimum trial pack i got is coming to and end. I would buy again, although i do have a few more trial packs to get through.
Only 1 cigarette today, a strange unintentional positive from the pipe resurrection I think.
