Since there has been much discussion about the ability of any type of GEM Micro"Junk"omatic to give good shaves I for one would like to see just how many guys use the dreaded MJO for their daily shaves. So I am suggesting that stljeff make a thread for just that purpose. Of course I will not be posting in it but I want to see just how many of you guys are nuts enough to really like the monster!

I'm in! I have all 3 models and really like the Bullet-tip and Clog Pruf a lot. The OC is the one I use the least, but only because I like the others even more.

All I can say is that it's poor workman who blames his tools.
What's an MJO?
Sorry for the ignorance, but I don't know 'nuthin' 'bout razors.

I can use the OCMM as a daily shaver but I still enjoy using other razors. If a thread isn't started and you don't want to look through the regular SOTD tread then I'd be glad to PM you each time I use the OCMM!

Oh, I have none of those MJO thing-a-ma-bobs.
I do have a few MMs though. I use no razor exclusively but the OCMM is definitely a very special shave.
Yup I just had a couple of shaves with mine as well, already documented in the SOTD.

I have had my OCMJO for a while now, and have only used three times. The first time it pretty much sucked. The second time, was worse than the first. After that I sort jumped on board with Possum here and there giving a few digs to the rigs. But, I gotta say, I used it just the other day, after the OP on another thread talked about his losin his micro virginity got me posting that I would use one. Well, I put it out there and had to follow through. Was kinda dreading it to be honest. But ya know, it was a great shave!! Shocked the h*ll out of me actually. I was expecting it to be like how I remembered. No idea what changed between then and now, but there ya go. One good OCMJO shave.

Welcome to the club, or at least to the waiting line for the club. A few more good results are needed before the bouncer will drop the velvet rope & allow you access. I do look forward to seeing you inside though RocketMan!

Actually, I spent an entire month last year (it was June or September or some such) purposefully limiting myself to nothing but my Micromatics. I'll admit that the MMOC didn't get it's full 1/3 of the limelight, but a good time was had by all.
That being said, if proposed thread is created I would dutifully chronicle my MM related endeavors therein.

I'll be glad to chronicle my use of the OCMM = Open Comb Micro MAGIC!!!!
But I use straights more than anything.

I didn't like my OCMM one bit. I wanted to, but wanting to like something and liking it just aren't the same. While my 1912 gives some of my absolute best shaves, my OCMM gave me a pretty crummy shave, neither close nor smooth. it is a pretty pretty razor, but it is just not the razor for me.

I had thought about devoting an entire month of SOTDs to the MM family soon, e.g., Micromatic May, but since there is so much interest in doing it sooner, how about starting it with April instead? Since today is the Ides of March, we have less than a month to go. Let me know how you feel about that idea. I also plan on paying homage to the Slim-V family: the HFT and FW. We could also include the Push Button and Contour with these since they essentially utilize the Slim-V head.

I'm primed for both MM and Slim-V months. I'll have to figure out how to break it to my VC4. Do I lie? Do I say I'll be away on a long trip? I'm nervous but willing.

I'll tell ya - you start shaving with a resharpened rasoir rabot, otherwise known as a pig scraper, and you can find out what a real man can do with a razor!!! Those modern pre-cartridge contraptions like the MMs yall are using are only tricky because engineers gave up on quality in modern times and jumped to cost savings!! But, with a high quality blade, even those tin imposters can wrangle a shave!! Photo edited for clarity!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
