First I want to thank Fuzzy for helping me get this great lather catcher. I have wanted one for years. It is a great shaver. I have always liked the looks of the wooden handles I have seen on lather catchers. I decided I would give it a try to make one for my LC. I am awaiting a ferrule for the end of the handle, but this is what I have so far.

How did you get the correct thread for that? Looks good! It was trial and error. I took the head to Lowes. I ended up using a #8 sheet metal screw. Nothing else would work.

Thats one good looking razor! That is an awesome razor!! I still remember how happy I was to get it in when I won it. It will look awesome with that wood handle. I am not sure if the 1911 actually came with a wood handle. Seems like a lot of those sets did have several handles though. It feels right seeing it.

The actual machine thread is long obsolete. There's a thread that discusses it somewhere on the site.

The actual machine thread is long obsolete. There's a thread that discusses it somewhere on the site. Yes until I started hunting I had no idea how many times thread specifications have changed over the years. It is a darn shame really, and repairing these razors speaks to it. I think these razors had the United STates Standard thread, but it might be a different standard, not sure. The #8 mentioned above is the SAE thread format based on metric measurements. I was wondering if Jim might have found a solution to this problem. I find the modern threads don't really fit that great and the handles don't hold tight all that well. I figure somewhere/someday a tap and die set will show up from the old USS or Franklin standards and I can overcharge everybody to thread them some handle connectors!

I finally got around to taking a few pics of the wood handle on my 1910 Jr. Bar. It looks to be 2 inches long. I think jayaruh made his a little heaver. I think most will like a little longer handle.
