Just when I thought my RAD was cured.. I saw a probably unused GEM Push Button that I couldn't resist. Do any of you know when these razors were made? I know that they were made in 1958, but a range of dates would be fun to know. I can always imagine that mine was made in 1959 (my birth year). I've heard that they are great shavers, I'm looking forward to finding out when it arrives...

I've got one which was a NOS in it's original 1958 bubble pack. I've used it a few times. The head as far as I can tell is identical to the Featherweight. I don't like how the handle feels so I don't use it anymore. It's a nice razor that generally gets a bad rap.

I will be getting one soon that appears to be the opposite of NOS in it's original bubble pack. Sort of gunky, and scratched and gross. Hmmmmm.
But, I gonna clean her up and maybe we can compare notes bjorney!! Not sure how long these were manufactured for - hard to figure out short of finding advertisements and dating that way.

There is this 1959 Saturday Evening Post ad if that helps with the imagining! www.ebay.ca/itm/1959-Gem-Push-Button-Razor-Him-Print-Ad-/270482461647?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3efa02d3cf

I have not used my push button in a while. I do enjoy the shaves with it. As for the year..... I don't think anyone can prove it wasn't made in 59. Soooooo. Call it whatcha want.

Just got the Push button! It was beautiful and definitely NOS! The first shave was great, but I did use a little too much pressure so it nipped me a bit.., I'm not sure it will beat out my MMs, but it's very nice.

The pressure thingie gets all from time to time I think. Glad it went well though.

I just picked up three of these from an antique store in NE Colorado. Nice looking razors, but a bit mild shavers for my taste. John

When I saw your post that's the first thing that went through my mind John... Too mild for you.
Oh well, at least you rescued them.

If you want to resell one let me know. It is a good beginner razor I think.

I'll be glad to sell 'em, Fellas. I'll try to get some photos up soon. I really don't know what they are worth, so make me an offer and we'll go from there. Fair enough? John

I used mine today. I always get really good results. I've been impulsively choosing it more and more when I scan the candidates for the day's shave. Of the post micromatic GEMs, I think I'd still choose the HFT if I had to make a final decision between the two because I'm one of those that likes the HFT's handle.
Auto Strop always gets first consideration, of course.
