OK! Made the 45 min drive and they had one bottle left! GOAL !!! Man....when I asked the chick in the cosmetic counter, she said "No! We don't carry that anymore!" And I went over and looked at ever bottle in the case and there it was...at the far end of the case, laying over behind so other bottles......."GOAL"!!!!! I splashed some on in the car on the way home...Opps...maybe a lttle too much!....My wife rolled the window down....I said, "Babe, it might be a little too cold to leave that window down." And she said, it was either that or she might "throw up"... LMAO!.....a couple minutes later I had my window down too....ha,ha... but about 40 mins later it started smelling pretty good....About the time we got home....But I had to split and play a gig, so she didn't get to check out the dry-down. This was a case of, "Like medicine, where a teaspoon will cure and a table spoon can kill" Only I splashed a half cup....Ha, ha,ha,ha! I'm going to shave later and try a judicious splash afterwards...and I'll report back.... I bet she loves the dry down.

Ok.... When I first splash...I need a very judicious splash....At first, there is alot that I really like in the scent...but there is one accord, on my skin, that I don't like...Kind of a petrol thing that can be a little sour, but that. sour note fades in and out......but thats a very small thread...kind of hidden.. But with a big splash that petrol note takes off....
About 30 minutes later the mids are veddy veddy nice.....and a little later the basenotes are great...I love the last part...but then its gone a few minutes after that....
This is a very complex scent for $10...Almost like a high dollar Oriental Guerlain kind of cologne....The dry down has that foggy vanilla Shalimar thing going on...
I'm sure this has been changed...I was looking for that olfactory time-machine trip...but didn't happen...which means it's different...I think the old stuff had more citrus at the top and the drydown that is there now....was the same but stronger and lasted all day...
Old Spice, the P&G version here in the US, doesn't give the the flashback trip...but the Old Spice I picked up when I was in Doha, Qatar did...The next time I went there I picked up 5 bottles.....They had the German P&G Old Spice...Now I don't know if the German P&G has a different recipe....or if.....that was 6 years ago...maybe P&G has reformulated their Old Spice in the last 6 or 7 years....But I can say, unequivacably, that that Old Spice was very good and did really do the time-machine, olfactory trip to my childhood.. I havn't tried the Old Spice from India...does anyone have an opinion on that...? Is that really closer to the old stuff?
I'll tell you this....as far as classic scents that still really give me that old time flash back...I think Aqua Velva and Skin Bracer are the BEST....Its funny...My Pop didn't like either one, but he would use Skin Bracer if the corner Drug Store was out of Old Spice..and he ended up using it a fair amount....and when I splash the new Skin Bracer...BAM! I back with my Pop...it's amazing! And it works better for that than the new Old Spice which was his scent of choice..
Thats funny...now skin bracer is becoming my AS of choice because of the olfactory journey...I dig it! The Aqua Velva Ice Blue gives me the same trip, only it doesn't remind me of my Dad...but just America from that time...cause every man other than my Pop DID use it! Ha,ha...In the mid-fifties, any room in America with several men in it smelled like AV Ice Blue...lol! Thats an exaggeration, but not far from the truth....

I have heard more then one person say that AV and Skin Bracer have stayed true to there roots. I can not help with the old spice question. I am not exactly a blood hound with scents. I have several different old spice bottles and use the dollar store stuff too. It all smells good to me.

It is a time machine for me. That is what my pops used to wear. Tom

I LOVE some of the Shulton....I was just perusing da Bay myself checking into that very thing....I was just wondering, how I could tell who was cool and who wasn't...lol! Looks like you're a little Psychic! Would you be interested in a once used bottle of British Sterling? I think my wife is probably allergic to it....It really is not bad, but it makes her sick....Funny.....she liked the Veg, but this one makes her ill.....
