Monday, April 2
Razor: GEM Pushbutton Blade: GEM stainless Brush: VDH Pure Badger Lather: Palmolive stick A/S: Alum, Lucido splash, Aloe Vera Gel, Daiso A/S Balm
Result: DFS today. I'm on my third consecutive shave with my new pushbutton. The first two days I tried to make up for the lack of "heft" with a bit of pressure (not intentionally, it just kind of happened). That left me with a bit of a tender face for day 3 so I backed way off and just did more passes. It was a good recovery shave, even if I didn't get as close a shave as I've come to expect from SEs.

Bjorn, is it as mild as a HFT or FW? Or even milder?

Bjorn, is it as mild as a HFT or FW? Or even milder? I haven't tried the HFT or FW, but I've read that it's similar to the FW. I'm taking it as a challenge to get the best shave I can with it!

Tuesday, April 3
Razor: Star 1912 Blade: GEM stainless Brush: VDH Pure Badger Lather: Palmolive stick A/S: Alum, Lucido splash, Aloe Vera Gel
Result: Taking a break from the Pushbutton to compare with an old favorite. Today's shave was delightful! Two real passes with the 1912 and just minor touch-up on pass 3. Mostly BBS, with a bit less perfection under the right jawline.

Wednesday, April 4, 2012 Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar Lather: Old Spice - face lather *** Thanks again Andy (MrGuy)!!! Brush: Semogue 820 Razor: Schick I1 Injector Blade: Chinese Schick (1); 3+ passes Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Bay Rum I've been a fan of the injectors since I had my first shave with them but for some reason I haven't used them on a regular basis. Well after this morning's shave I now know why. Something was just missing from the Pella blade that the Chinese Schick has. I plan on using this blade as long as it lasts and then doing a proper review and comparison.

Thursday, April 5, 2012 Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar Lather: De Vergulde Hand "Extra fris" - face lather Brush: Semogue 1438 Razor: Schick I1 Injector Blade: Chinese Schick (2); 3+ passes Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Bay Rum Another splendid shave from the I1 & Chinese Schick combo. The 1438 doesn't seem to be breaking in as quickly as the 820. I needed to reload it a tiny bit for my final pass. Definitely not a problem, rather an easy way to tell how the break in is coming along.

Late Report Thursday PMGeorgetown scuttle Ach Brito Glyce preshave soap Somerset Simpson Eagle 1 Pure brush Mitchell's Wool Fat shaving soap Gem Heavy Flat Top (G-Bar) razor Gem blade (1) Pinaud Clubman aftershave Ugh. Lots of bleeders this time. I don't know if it was because of the aggressiveness of the razor, or poor technique, or both. I'm going back to DE until my face heals up.
