Late Report Thursday PMGeorgetown scuttle Ach Brito Glyce preshave soap Somerset Simpson Eagle 1 Pure brush Mitchell's Wool Fat shaving soap Gem Heavy Flat Top (G-Bar) razor Gem blade (1) Pinaud Clubman aftershave Ugh. Lots of bleeders this time. I don't know if it was because of the aggressiveness of the razor, or poor technique, or both. I'm going back to DE until my face heals up. Well, the solid effort certainly earned you 1 Karma point!! Thanx for the sharing too - it is helpful for people to see your wet shaving travels!!

Saturday, April 7, 2012 Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar Lather: MWF - face lather Brush: Semogue 1250 Razor: Schick I1 Injector Blade: Chinese Schick (4); 3+ passes Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Menthol Shave #4 for the Chinese Schick & it still feels like new. Excellent result even though the lather took more effort. The 1250 just isn't breaking like the 820 & 1438. I guess it just needs more attention. Merry Easter Eve!

Saturday April 7th
Prep: Scalding hot shower with Dr. Bronner's eucalyptus soap.
Lather: VHD face applied like it was a stick.
Brush: Mule Deer handled Silver Tip Badger.
Razor: Ever-Ready '24. First time I've used this one with a silver colored handle.
Blade: Gem SS from Walgreens. I SWEAR these don't shave nearly as close for me as the TP PTFE coated Gems do.
Post: Hot then cold water rinse. Thayers Super Which Hazel/Aloe. Krampert's Finest Bay Rum.
While this was a DFS, I know the '24 is capable to a much closer shave. I'll be glad when my order of Ted Pella Blades gets here.

Saturday PMBecker scuttle Homemade frankincense & myrrh preshave oil Rooney 2/1 Finest brush Acqua di Gio shaving cream Schick E2 razor Personna PTFE blade (1) Acqua di Gio aftershave balm A very close, smooth shave, but with lots of bleeders, partially due to my inexperience with the Schick and partially to the terrible shaving cream. The cream is now in the trash.

John, so far I'm liking the Chinese Schick blades a lot better than my Pella/Personna PTFEs. Though us sounds like the lather didn't help you today. Hope it gets better next time!

Where do you get the Chinese blades? Most people get them off Amazon or drugstore.com. I found mine at a local ma & pa pharmacy.

Sunday PMDirty Bird 1.5 scuttle Ach Brito Glyce preshave soap Somerset Simpson Polo 14 Manchurian brush Yardley Classic Gold shaving cream Schick E2 razor Personna PTFE blade (3) Yardley Black Label aftershave The brush is really too big to use comfortably, but I love the way it looks and feels. And I really like the Yardley products. The razor/blade combination, meanwhile, is getting better as my technique with it improves, but I'm still getting cut, and I'm not completely convinced that SE shaving is my cup of tea. Clearly it's important not to use too much pressure.

I'm always surprised how well the Rise Shave Gel (the one in the plastic tube - a Dollar Tree favorite) works for me. I'll have to remember to include it in my rotation much more frequently.
