I prefer a good Scotch..and all who know me well know I prefer a Single Malt Straight Up....Maybe some call that fancy, but I don't see how you could get that any simpler... But the beer I do reach for on a regular basis, is Root Beer...My favorite soft-drink...and I prefer Virgil's and Henry Weinhard's...And both of these are brewed the natural way at distileries that also brew regular Beer.....But I'll take even Barq's, A&W or Mugs over a cola anyday... I am in Birds corner. I am a Scotch guy. Straight up for me also. When I do drink beer the darker and heavier the better. Porters and Stouts.

Well, I can tell you that I am working on an old bottle of Teachers. It is what I would call a decent everyday Blended Scotch. It is priced very fair. birdlives I know has posted on some very good Whisky's Single Malt and blended. Just like anything else. You will have a taste all your own. I really enjoy a Peety (smokey) Scotch at times. other times a nice mellow Scotch that has several subtle notes. I can tell you that if you are first starting out. You might find that you want to add a splash of water or a small ice cube.It will take a bit of the bite off. There is no one way to enjoy your Scotch. It is the way you enjoy it is all that matters. On a side note, My wife is not a Whisky or Bourbon drinker. But when I do happen to pick up a bottle of Makers Mark she will have a bit. It is a smooth and bit sweet. Nice to be able to have your spouse enjoy a drink with you. Tom

I think thats really cool about needing a password....Makes it like a "Private Club"...Maybe we should make it for Shooting and Be-Bop Jazz...(ha,ha, there goes the neighborhood)

OK, to bring this thread back up, if I am drinking beer, it will be 3 different options. 1. Shiner Bock 2. Rolling Rock 3. Heineken
Now on to Scotch, I have a preferance to DeWars white label. Cuddysark is good as well but my favorite is Johnny Walker Blue or Green. If I am out with friends, I will go with Johnny Walker Red, but its not a favorite. For Bourbon, Jim Beam is about the only thing I can drink. Whiskey, well where I come from we have 2 different kinds, we have sipping whiskey, and good ole sour mash. For Sour Mash, Ill take Jack Daniels, Makers Mark, or Wild Turkey 101 and Evan Williams White Label
For Sipping Whiskey, Gentle man Jack, Evan Williams Green, and George Dickel. (these terms may not be interchangble between locals howevery)

Don't know if this is a favorite yet as I tried it for the first time tonight but it's a German pilsner called Wernesgruner.Nice pour with a great top and a touch of malty finish. 4.9% alcohol I say Guten Braun. Ja

Wernesgrüner? You people are perverts. If you are looking for good German beers, look no further than Upper Franconia (in the north of Bavaria) aka the World Champion Beer Brewer. And spare me the craft beer nonsense. There are literally hundreds of "craft" breweries in the area, and many of them have been around for decades, if not centuries. On a side note, if you think that Pilsner Urquell is great, you're quite right, but possibly not aware of the why. So we recently moved from Berlin (worst beers in the world outside the South of England, Belgium, and the US) to Munich. Urgh. Weißbier has never been popular until quite recently, and the only reason for that change I can think of is that tourists love it for unknown reasons. But...! Yes, a Kellerbier. Yes, we recently crowd-invested in their new brewery. Yes, they have a Biergarten and a restaurant. Yes, when you're next in Munich, go there. So there.
