Wednesday, April 11, 2012 Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar Lather: MWF - face lather Brush: Semogue 820 Razor: Schick I1 Injector Blade: Chinese Schick (6); 3+ passes Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Bay Rum Shave #6 for the Chinese Schick & it still feels like new. The 820 proves today what great lather can be made from MWF. For some reason I can't get into the groove with the 1250. I think it'll be relegated to test lathers only until I see its performance improve. No time for low quality lather hurting my otherwise great shaves! BBS results today with minimal effort. What a great start to the day, I'm just not sure that the rest of the day will live up to it!

Wednesday morning:
Trumper GFT cream Semogue 610 boar Schick Adjustable Travelin' razor set to 4 Schick blade (1) KF bay rum
Gents, this is a very nice razor! It was an easy BBS; as easy to obtain as my more aggressive razors. One thing that struck me, it's a very quiet razor. With SE especially, and even to some degree with a few of my DE razors, I can hear the razor and blade mowing the hair down. Not with this. It just quietly gets the job done. Anyone accustomed to SE blade angle, you'll have no problem with this razor.
If this had been my first razor I have no doubt that I never would have gone to cartridges.
Tomorrow I try it on setting 6.

I felt more comfortable with the SE razor this time, and I'm very smooth with only one nick. And the Yardley products are great.

Monday, April 9 Razor: GEM Damaskeene Blade: GEM stainless Brush: VDH Pure Badger Lather: Lord Emofresh A/S: Alum, Lucido splash, Aloe Vera Gel, Daiso A/S Balm Result: First shave with my latest Ebay acquisition. It's a rather worn Damaskeene. The head looks good but the handle is pretty ugly. The shave was very nice. DFS+ Reading your Monday SOD Result made me think of an oldie but goody song from my youth. By a guy named Jimmy Soul and it speaks a bit about I think you should just stick with the worn Damaskeene with the pretty ugly handle. Click on this link and Jimmy Soul will tell you how to be happy for the rest of your life. Same thing goes for vintage razors!

Been awhile since I posted a SOD so I think I will give it a try today. By the way some very nice SOD pix in this thread, thanks guys.
- Prep: Hot shower & towel
- Brush: C&E BBB
- Soap: Trumpers Rose
- Razor: '48 Eversharp-Schick G1 Injector
- Blade: Ted Pella PTFE coated Injector (shave 9)
- A/S: Thayer's Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner & SCS Savory Rose ASB
- Result: DFS+ considering that the blade has been used so much. No buff pass today. Love the scent and the slickness and cushion of a great face lather using the Trumpers. And my favorite brush the C&E BBB. Seems that when I am ready for a really great shave that is the brush that I reach for most often.

The only thing that bothers me about my Damaskeene is the rusty handle. I may just get rid of the rust as best I can and then spray it with a clear coat of urethane or something to keep it from getting worse. The other option is to look for a nicer one to replace it with...

ThursdayWorld Market "scuttle," then Georgetown G4 Ach Brito Glyce preshave soap Somerset Simpson Emperor 1 Super brush Acqua di Parma Colonia shaving cream Gem Heavy Flat Head (G-Bar) razor Gem Stainless blade (3) Acqua di Parma Colonia aftershave A great shave. The WM gravy boat is really too narrow for lathering the brush, but it'll be OK as a brush scuttle just to warm the hair in water before my shave. So far the Gem blade is not tugging at all. And the Acqua di Parma is among my very top favorites.

Thursday morning:
Mikes Natural Soap, mint/rosemary Handcrafted badger brush w/cocobolo handle Schick adj. "travelin" RAD enabler razor set to 6 ;D Chinese schick blade (2) KF menthol
The razor continues to perform. I like it. If there is any failing with it it's on my end. I generally like razors that let me know the blade is there. Ay setting 6 the razor is beginning to get nicely aggressive, but the razor feelsd like a toy and I have a tendency to equate that with "can't bite". No major problems, I just need to realize that it's no toy. This is a constant problem for with with all aggressive yet mild feeling razors.
For now I'll continue to keep it at 6. As with most efficient razors todays shave was an extremely easy to achieve BBS. 2 1/3 passes and done.
Mikes soap is my first facial use of the soap. When I first obtained it the scent just about floored me, but I'll get to that in a bit. I opened it up and since it's just slightly stiffer than Plumbers putty I formed it into a ziploc xs bowl. I let it sit for a few days to age and moderate a bit. It's still pretty strong, but I used it anyway. When lathered it does moderate somewhat. I'm sensitive to scents, but I can live with this. The mint isn't only there for scent. It's there for cooling effect also. That's why the scent is so strong. It needs enough for effect, and when lathered I like it. It's real, it's there to actually do something beneficial, and enough needs to be in the soap to get the job done, so I understand and accept. BTW, interesting soap. I need to use it some more before commenting further. For some reason I like the idea of someone making the stuff in their kitchen. So I followed it with another product that comes out of my kitchen. It couldn't have been more apropos IMO.
