I think the Ever Readys feel more aggressive to me. My 1907ish ER is the most aggressive feeling one to me I think. Still veddy veddy smooth though. Smooth is a good thing. I prefer my shaves last a good 12 hours before I feel stubble. The 1902 only gives a CCS. My 1912’s last 12 hours. Maybe I should try my 1902 on a 1 day growth. It might work better. I bet it will. No matter the razor I get sand paper after 3-4 hours. Its fine with me though.

Thats cause guys like you and Lamarsky have those barbed-wire beards that make Chuck Norris' "2 day" look like baby's butt...lol! Speaking of Lamarsky......Whats he been up to? Kinda miss that wild man!

Received today: It's much smaller than I expected. But that's OK. It looks gorgeous. One question though: The screw on the original handle is 3.97mm and the "sheet metal screws" are 4.17mm and can cut through sheet metal if I understand correctly (self-tapping?). The first time I screwed the handle into the head a little bit of force was needed. Afterwards the handle would screw in much easier. Is it fair to assume that the screw on the handle stripped a tiny bit of the original thread? Not that it bothers me, as the original handle still fits just fine.

That handle suits the Comfort perfectly!

I think it does kind of make the whole a bit wider the first time. I have had no problems putting original handles back on. Both handles hold tight for me. That handle is true to the size of an original GEM or ER handle.!

When I was searching for the right screw, I took both my Gem Jr. LC and my ER 14 to the hardware store and found that the #8 sheet metal screw worked without issue. Evidently the Comfort has slightly smaller hole. I am glad it worked though. Looks good.

Evidently the Comfort has slightly smaller hole. I am glad it worked though. Looks good. My Kampfe had the same non-issue... slightly more force required at the first attempt.. I'm just assuming that the self-tapping sheet metal screws would do a tiny bit of tapping, as the old lather catcher thread is a tiny bit smaller than the #8 sheet metal screws.. if it is indeed the old BSW thread on the old razors... I should examine the original handles under a microscope to measure the thread angles and see if they are actually BSW threads.

What I don't understand: Why would the Kampfe brothers - German immigrants to the US - use a British thread standard for their razor handles?

Yayyyyyy jayaruh, Jim, my friend! Thank you so much! The handle just arrived at my doorstep. Fantastic looking handle... and seeing it on the razor it’s even more impressive than in photos. The size is almost spot on of the original... but the purple wood is just gorgeous. Will I need to make some kind of treatment to the wood, Jim? And thank you to wchnu and GarnerPW that let me have the purple wood one.
